(Minghui.org) Five senior Falun Gong practitioners were arrested on April 11, 2020 for sharing the health benefits of their faith with local residents.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Since the coronavirus pandemic, there have been cases of people recovering from the infection after sincerely reciting the phrases “Falun Dafa is good; Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good.”
Because of sharing this information, Ms. Yan Mingsheng, 80, was arrested at home by agents from the 610 Office, an extralegal agency created specifically to persecute Falun Gong. The officers also ransacked her home and confiscated her computer, cellphone, Falun Gong books and many other personal items. She was released on bail the next day and the police continued to monitor her afterwards.
The same day, another four practitioners were also arrested, including Ms. Tian Xiuzhi and Ms. Cao Xinzhu, both nearly 70, and Ms. Liu Hemei and Mr. Zhao Manyou, both nearly 80.
It was not known at the time of writing whether these four practitioners have been released.
