(Minghui.org) After reading the Minghui article “The Cost of Intentionally Forcing Things,” I had a lot of feelings and would like to share my thoughts with everyone.
Many Falun Dafa practitioners in China may have helped out a fellow practitioner or their relative when they faced challenges with their livelihoods after being persecuted.
I once knew a practitioner, Li, who was imprisoned illegally. Her husband had just died, and their children were about to start college. Many fellow practitioners gave money or provided other necessities for their children. In addition, Li borrowed money from other practitioners in order to send her youngest daughter abroad when she didn’t have the financial means to do so. Maybe this was an attempt to make up for the trauma her children had suffered due to the persecution.
About two years ago, Li, who seemed very diligent to me, died of sickness karma. Practitioners who visited Li noticed that her house was filled with fruits that other practitioners had given to her, and her daughters wore fancy, name-brand shoes. However, the fellow practitioners who helped her family were doing their best to be economical about their own finances. Li’s children eventually gave up on Falun Dafa cultivation and threw away pamphlets practitioners provided to them.
Children of Dafa practitioners all have a predestined relationship with Dafa. They experience trauma when their parents are persecuted. Therefore, it is understandable that parents may feel the need to make up for the trauma. Some practitioners try to earn more money so they can give their children better lives. However, in this materialistic world, children can easily become lost and fail to cherish what they have received.

“In the beginning, this person was very good. When he cured illnesses for other people, they would give him money or some gifts—all of which he might turn down or refuse to accept. Yet this person could not resist contamination from the big dye vat of everyday people. Because these reverse cultivation people had never gone through genuine xinxing cultivation, it was very difficult for them to conduct their xinxing well. Gradually, this person would accept small gifts. Later, he would also accept big gifts. In the end, he would even be offended when he was not given enough. Finally, he would say, “Why do you give me so many things? Give me money!” He would not be pleased if given too little money.” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)
As Falun Dafa cultivators, the best way to help young children is to guide them and teach them Dafa. Recently, I have been in contact directly and indirectly with children whose parents were persecuted. Even under less oppressive conditions, some practitioners still rely on others to help take care of their children. This arrangement is detrimental to a child’s education and cultivation. This situation may also be inconvenient for practitioners and create bad influences for new practitioners and everyday people. The practitioners taking care of the children may be too polite to reject this plan, but as time goes on, this may become troublesome for them. Hard feelings can develop and cause unnecessary issues between them.

“If a debt is owed, it must be paid. Therefore, some dangerous things may occur in the course of cultivation.” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)
Other practitioners’ money and resources are also Dafa resources, so we shouldn’t take advantage of it.
Practitioners who want to help should be reasonable and logical, and they should accept responsibility if the practitioners they help encounter any problems in their cultivation and their lives as a result.
In my opinion, if one is righteous in their cultivation path, one will not encounter too many financial or family problems. Fellow Dafa practitioners are not our friends or relatives. Practitioners should keep their relationships centered on cooperation in Dafa projects and helping each other improve in their cultivation. We should stay away from as many ordinary people’s issues as we can in order to avoid conflicts between Dafa practitioners. And if one cannot avoid dealing with ordinary issues, we should avoid owing any favors and becoming indebted to someone else. We should maintain the demeanor of a Falun Dafa cultivator and think of others first.
