(Minghui.org) Two Chengdu City, Sichuan Province residents in their 70s were arrested and held in custody for a few hours for their faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Chen Minghua, 76, and Ms. Xian Weixiu, 79, were walking near a plaza on June 7, 2020, when a police car stopped in front of them. The officers said someone had reported them for distributing materials about Falun Gong. They took both women to the police station, searched their bags and confiscated their Falun Gong pamphlets.
While taking their interrogation records, one officer said, “Why don’t we just let them go given their advanced age?” Another younger officer responded, “No way for us to release them!”
The officers brought both practitioners home around 8 p.m. and ransacked their places without a search warrant. Without finding Falun Gong related materials, the police took pictures of Ms. Chen’s grandson’s homework and the outside of her home. They said to her, “These photos are evidence that we’ve been here.”
At Ms. Xian’s home, the police searched everywhere and even under her pillow. They also took pictures of the inside and outside of her home.
Both practitioners were brought back to the police station after the home-ransacking. They were taken back by their families around 10 p.m.
