(Minghui.org) A 75-year-old Chongqing resident has been held incommunicado for nearly a year for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Deng Liping went to Yudu Prison on July 11, 2019, to deliver Falun Gong materials to guard Yu Hua. He had just been released from prison two months earlier after having served three years for refusing to give up his faith in Falun Gong. He wanted to help guard Yu understand that the persecution of Falun Gong had no legal basis.
Mr. Deng was reported to the police. His home was ransacked the next day and his Falun Gong books and other materials were confiscated. He reported the illegal raid on July 17, only to be taken to the local police station for interrogation.
After he was released, he returned to the police station to reason with the officers about the illegality of the persecution. He was arrested again and has been detained in the Nan’an District Detention Center ever since.
Prior to his latest ordeal, Mr. Deng has been repeatedly targeted for his faith. In addition to the 3-year prison term, he served 1.5 years between 2007 and 2009 at Xishanping Forced Labor Camp for writing a letter to a police officer and urging him not to participate in the persecution.
