(Minghui.org) A Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province resident's appeal against a five-year prison term for practicing Falun Gong was rejected by Jiujiang City Intermediate Court on April 7, 2020.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang Weiqing, 51, was arrested on June 11, 2019, after being reported for posting information about Falun Gong. The police searched her place and confiscated her Falun Gong books, a laptop, calendars with information about Falun Gong, as well as her MP3 and MP4 players. She was put on criminal detention the next day and her arrest was approved on July 16.
Ms. Wang was charged with “undermining law enforcement using a cult organization,” a standard pretext used by the Chinese courts to frame Falun Gong practitioners. The Yongxiu County Court sentenced her to five years and fined her 20,000 yuan on December 26, 2019.
Prior to her latest arrest, Ms. Wang was detained for 14 days after being arrested on August 13, 2018, while putting up posters about Falun Gong.
