(Minghui.org) A group of 119 Israelis, including 30 professors, 25 rabbis, and around 20 medical doctors and scholars, recently signed an open letter to the new Israeli Health Minister, Yuli Edelstein.
Among the signatories are former Deputy Speaker of the Knesset Mr. Moshe Feiglin; former Knesset member Mr. Yehudah Glick; Prof. Jacob Lavee, who has been leading efforts to stop the Chinese Communist Party’s killing of Falun Dafa practitioners for organs in China; and chief rabbis of several cities and communities in Israel.
The letter calls on the Minister of Health to examine and immediately stop all cooperation between Israel and China in the field of organ transplantation. This includes preventing Chinese physicians from training and attending professional conferences in Israel, as well as stopping all cooperation in research and development between the two countries in the face of the Chinese regime's forced organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience.
The signatories believe that a law should be enacted immediately to impose criminal liability on all forms of cooperation with Chinese entities on organ transplantation, including by private Israeli companies.
In addition, the signatories asked the Minister of Health to stop direct and indirect transmission of Israeli citizens’ genetic information to Chinese state-owned companies. Furthermore, the signatories call for immediate action to end Israel’s dependence on Chinese medical equipment and to re-examine the need for, and moral justification of, existing “twin hospital” agreements between Israeli and Chinese hospitals.
Two Israeli media outlets covered the issue: a radio station interviewed one of the signatories, and an online Russian TV station interviewed the petition’s initiator.
The petition was submitted to the Ministry of Health at the end of May, but no reply has been received so far.
The project was started by an Israeli Falun Dafa practitioner, who suggests that practitioners in other countries consider taking similar initiatives.
