(Minghui.org) A Falun Gong practitioner in Meishan City, Sichuan Province was arrested on June 20, 2020 for distributing information about how the Chinese Communist Party has covered up information about the coronavirus pandemic and how some people have recovered from the virus infection after learning Falun Gong.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline. It has five sets of gentle exercises and three core principles of “Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance.” Due to its immense popularity since its public introduction in May 1992, the Chinese Communist Party launched a nationwide campaign against Falun Gong in July 1999.
The arrested practitioner, in her 50s, was taken to Fengming Police Station. She refused to reveal her name. The police attempted to take her photos, but she didn’t cooperate. Several officers grabbed her hair and slammed her head against the wall. They also pulled her chin and eyelids. She was later interrogated by three officers.
After passing a physical examination, the practitioner was sent to Renshou Detention Center on the next day and given 15 days of administrative detention.
On July 6, on the day of her scheduled release, the police brought her from the detention center to the police station. They forcibly took her photo and blood sample. The police refused to return her purse, wallet and cellphone. When the practitioner asked for a copy of her detention notice, the police refused to give it to her, saying that it didn’t have her signature.
During the practitioner’s 15-day detention period, the police texted her photo to local residents, trying to get people to report her.
The police continued to follow and monitor the practitioner after she was released. Her name remains to be investigated.
