(Minghui.org) On the 21st anniversary of Falun Gong practitioners’ peaceful resistance to the persecution of their faith by the Chinese Communist Party, Gary Bauer, commissioner of the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), sent a video to the Falun Dafa Association in Washington, D.C. in support of the practitioners.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Falun Gong practitioners were unable to host their annual rally at the Capitol Hill to call for ending the persecution. Many government officials instead sent supporting letters and videos.
Commissioner Bauer said that the USCIRF was established in 1998, one year before the Chinese Communist Party ordered the persecution of Falun Gong. In the past two decades, they’ve watched the human rights conditions in China deteriorating.
Even during the coronavirus epidemic, the Chinese Communist Party continued to arrest and detain Falun Gong practitioners, when they should work on to contain the outbreak.
Commissioner Bauer also expressed their concern about the on-going crimes of forced organ harvesting from non-consenting, living Falun Gong practitioners. They are calling on the U.S. government to conduct a thorough investigation into the allegation and take actions about it.
