(Minghui.org) Falun Gong practitioners from New Jersey gathered in Newark's Military Park on July 16, 2020, to share the beauty and strength of Falun Gong. They demonstrated the exercises, displayed truth-clarification posters, and broadcast information about Falun Gong.
In particular, they made public the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) cruelty in persecuting Falun Gong and called for help in stopping the campaign of persecution that has been ongoing in China for 21 years.
Newark is the largest city in New Jersey and one of the most densely populated cities in the United States. Near Military Park in downtown Newark is the city’s transportation hub. Falun Gong’s beautiful music and peaceful exercise demonstration attracted many people to watch, take photos, and read the information.
Former CCP leader Jiang Zemin initiated the persecution of Falun Gong on July 20, 1999. Since then, tens of thousands of Falun Gong practitioners in China who live by the principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, have been illegally arrested, sentenced, and tortured. Their organs have even been harvested for profit. July 20, 1999 was the day that Falun Gong practitioners’ efforts to end the persecution began, and they continue to this day.
Ms. Han, who is from China and experienced the persecution in China firsthand, participated in the event. In 1999, she went to Beijing, the capital of China, to petition for the right to practice, even though she was pregnant. After returning to her hometown, she was detained illegally for more than three weeks. Her daughter was born in 1999 and is now 21 years old. Ms. Han said that Falun Gong practitioners in China face the risk of being arrested, persecuted, and even subjected to live organ harvesting every day. The CCP’s crimes against humanity can no longer continue. She calls for all the forces of justice to work together to end this persecution.
