(Minghui.org) Eleven Falun Gong practitioners in Shulan City, Jilin Province, were targeted for their faith on July 15, 2020, one month after the city was re-opened after months of lockdown due to the coronavirus epidemic.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is an ancient spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The 11 arrested practitioners are: Ms. Cao Yanwen, Ms. Feng Xiuzhi, Ms. Zhang Yu’e, Ms. Zheng Chunfan, Ms. Lu Guiping, Ms. Zhao Shuyun, Ms. Dou Hexin, Ms. Jiang Jingfu, Ms. Li Xiuyan, Liang (first name unknown) and Ms. Wang (first name unknown). All of the practitioners had their homes videotaped and ransacked.
It’s known that Ms. Cao and Ms. Feng were detained for 15 days. Ms. Zhao was released the next day after she developed a fever and was refused admission by the local detention center. Ms. Zhang was released due to her advanced age and a medical condition. What has happened to the other practitioners remains to be investigated.
The practitioners above are not the only ones in the region that have been targeted. In Nong’an County, which is under the administration of Changchun and about 150 miles from Shulan, 11 practitioners were arrested and one harassed on July 15.
