(Minghui.org) A Qufu City, Shandong Province resident has been detained incommunicado since his arrest on July 29, 2020 after being reported for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
The police ransacked Mr. Kong Lingpo’s home on the afternoon of July 29 and confiscated his Falun Gong books, video recorder, audio recorder, discs, cell phone, and other items. The police also arrested his wife and took her to the Xiaoxue Police Station.
As Mr. Kong’s wife didn’t have her cell phone when the police demanded to check it, a few officers and the village officials who went with her to the police station returned to her home to look for her cell phone, but didn’t find it.
The police then targeted Mr. Kong's daughter-in-law, who, along with her husband and two boys, live with her in-laws. Noticing that the daughter-in-law was holding her months-old baby boy, the police grabbed hold of her ten-year-old son, stuffed him in their police cruiser, and ordered him to tell them the direction to his uncle (Mr. Kong's younger son)'s house. The young boy was traumatized by the experience. It is unclear whether the police found Mr. Kong's wife's cell phone in their younger son's home.
Mr. Kong’s wife refused to answer the police’s questions. She was released later that day.
The police sent Mr. Kong to the Sishui County Detention Center on the next day. His arrest was approved on August 7.
When Mr. Kong’s wife went to the police station to demand his release, the police asked her to turn herself in and threatened to arrest her in the future. They then ordered security not to let her enter the police station again.
Mr. Kong’s family also went to the detention center and local appeals office to visit him and seek justice for him, but to no avail. They are very worried about him.
