(Minghui.org) A cost engineer in Luoyang City, Henan Province is facing trial for her faith in Falun Gong, a mind-body practice that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wu Yongfeng, 41, was arrested at home at 6 a.m. on March 29, 2021. Her home was ransacked. Her husband, who doesn’t practice Falun Gong, was also taken to the local police station and released on bail in the evening. Their 4-year-old and 13-year-old daughters were left at home alone for a day.
It’s reported that the police arrested Ms. Wu after a surveillance camera recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials in a residential area.
The police put Ms. Wu on criminal detention at Luoyang City Detention Center on the same day of her arrest. She was charged with “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext used to criminalize Falun Gong practitioners by the authorities.
The Luolong District Procuratorate indicted Ms. Wu on August 23 and moved her case to the Luolong District Court.
Ms. Wu began to practice Falun Gong in 2018. Shortly into the practice, her menstrual disorder disappeared and she looks much younger.
Living by Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness, Compassion, Forbearance, she avoids taking bribes at work, even though it’s prevalent among her colleagues.
After Ms. Wu’s mother-in-law developed depression, she invited her to move in with her family. She cooked her favorite food and often comforted and encouraged her, which all helped her to recover soon.
With Ms. Wu facing trial now for her faith, her two young daughters struggle to cope with her absence in their life.
