(Minghui.org) Because of Falun Gong practitioners’ unstinting efforts over the past two decades, many Chinese have understood that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)’s persecution of Falun Gong has no legal basis. Some people have refused to participate in the suppression, and some police officers all but ignore their unwritten orders to carry it out. Below are some examples.
Doorman Refused To Monitor Practitioners
A practitioner in Suchuan Province lives in an apartment building staffed by two doormen. She always has a kind word for them as she leaves and returns. She took a chance in telling them the facts about Falun Gong and revealing the CCP’s lies. The men understood that the persecution was wrong, and one of them quit the CCP organizations.
During the nationwide “zero-out” campaign, local governments tried everything to force Falun Gong practitioners to renounce their faith, even enlisting residential area doormen to monitor practitioners.
Local officials told these two doormen to document when the practitioner entered and left the area. One doorman refused, “Why should I do that? Every resident has the freedom to come and go as they choose. That’s nonsense.”
Doorman Refuses To Report Practitioner
Similar things also happened in other areas. Another doorman knew the practitioners in his residential area were good people.
One day a police officer showed this doorman a photo and asked, “Have you ever seen this Falun Gong practitioner?”
The doorman replied, “Well, so many people come and go every day, I cannot tell who is who.”
The officer insisted, “This person lives here. If you see her at all, call me.”
The doorman brushed him off, “I’m too old to use these new phones—I don’t even have one.”
Director Changes His Attitude
Even some officers who’ve been involved in the suppression have changed. Not long after practitioner Mei moved, three people were waiting for her outside the elevator. One was officer Wu from where she used to live; another was Sun, director of the general management office where she used to live; and the third was a lady from the residential committee. They had been waiting for her for a while.
Director Sun said they’d found her new address at the police department and came to check on her.
Compared to three years before when director Sun had threatened Mei with violence in an attempt to force her to sign a statement renouncing her faith, he was like a different person and his tone was much softer.
“You are welcome to my home if you want to learn more about Falun Gong and how to be a good person,” Mei answered.
“We are not here looking for trouble,” Sun replied.
“That is good,” said Mei. “If we all followed Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance, things would be much better, wouldn’t they? Please do not do vicious things like some police officers have done—that would not be good for you or your family.”
It turned out that Sun’s persecution of practitioners had been reported on the Internet, and he often received phone calls from outside of China from people advising him not do evil. Before he left, he told Mei, “Please just do the exercises at home. Do not tell others about it or go out to distribute materials.”
Police Release Practitioners in Half an Hour
In August 2021, four practitioners were distributing Falun Gong information materials in Huaihua City, Hunan Province, when a young man reported them to the police.
The police came, picked them up, and drove them to the police station—and released them 30 minutes later!
Something similar happened in Shouguang City, Shandong Province. On May 22, 2021, two police officers went with the village Party secretary to a practitioner’s home. The practitioner told them the facts about Falun Gong and about the persecution by the CCP. They listened for a while then left.
Three days later, the same two officers went to the practitioner’s home again with a local villager, Ming (pseudonym). The practitioner asked Ming, “Have you heard about quitting from CCP and its affiliated organizations?” Ming replied, “Yes, I have done that already. I got a phone call encouraging me to quit.”
Upon hearing this, the officers knew they wouldn’t get anywhere and left.
“I Admire You (Falun Gong Practitioners) the Most”
Eight years ago practitioner Gang was arrested after he removed banners that slandered Falun Gong, and he was held in a detention center.
Gang was interrogated several times. One time, a new police officer came into the room in the middle of an interrogation. He nodded at his fellow officers and then smiled at Gang. Gang was a little surprised since he had never seen the officer before. Because of this officer, however, the atmosphere in the room lightened up.
The officer asked the others in the room, “Do you ever circumvent the Internet firewall to read overseas information?”
“Of course. I do it every day,” one replied. “That is my job.”
But when the new officer asked about which software he used, the other man did not reply.
The new officer looked at Gang and said, “Do you know how to find that Fanqiang (climb over the cyber firewall) software?”
Gang knew that what he was referring to was the software developed by Falun Gong practitioners. “It’s very easy to get. You can find it almost anywhere on the Internet,” he answered.
“I really admire you (Falun Gong practitioners)!” the new officer said sincerely.
Gang was very touched. After so many years of harsh persecution, more and more people have awakened and found light in their lives.
