(Minghui.org) Two Yanji City, Jilin Province residents were recently sentenced to six months each for their faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Jin Huixin and Ms. Tai Zhenzi, both 77, were arrested in September 2020 for distributing calendars bearing information about Falun Gong. The police confiscated their Falun Gong books and other materials at home. They were released on bail the same day after a brief interview at the police station.
The police summoned both women in late October 2021 and said they were submitting their cases to the Yanji City Procuratorate. Prosecutor Pu Tainan quickly indicted them and moved their cases to the Yanji City Court.
The two practitioners stood trial on December 6. They were taken to the hospital for a physical examination right after their joint hearing and have since been held at the Yanji City Detention Center. Both of them were fined 1,000 yuan and ordered to pay 500 yuan for the physical examination.
Their families recently learned that both women were sentenced to six months and that the prison terms were predetermined by the Yanbian Prefecture Intermediate Court.
