(Minghui.org) I wrote many letters to the chief of our local police station to tell him the facts about Falun Dafa. I did this many years ago. Since then, he has done his best to protect the practitioners in our area.
In 2001, agents from the police station and town and village governments began to harass our Falun Dafa practitioners. I was indignant at first. Then I realized that I should tell people the facts about Dafa. So I began to write letters to clarify the truth to friends and local officials.
An uninformed relative reported me to the police, and I had to stay away from home to avoid persecution. Yet I continued to write letters to dispel the defamatory propaganda that targeted practitioners. I especially often wrote to the chief of police in our village. I told him that Falun Dafa is a high level cultivation method, and practitioners cultivate Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. I urged him not to persecute good people. I wrote so many letters to him that I lost count.
A practitioner came to tell me in 2003 that our police chief wanted me to leave as soon as I could, because the police were redoubling their efforts to arrest me. Sure enough, the neighborhood association began to check resident registrations, one home after another, throughout the town. With Master Li's protection, I escaped safely.
In 2005, I was arrested by the domestic security police. The chief of police came and asked them to release me, but his effort was unsuccessful. I ended up being taken to a forced labor camp for a year.
I learned later that the police chief had asked to be transferred since he did not like the hassles of dealing with Falun Dafa matters. He took six months off after his request was denied. He stopped persecuting practitioners after he returned to work. When a director of security in another village repeatedly reported practitioners, the police chief always managed to iron things out for them. After that, no practitioner in our town was arrested, taken to a forced labor camp, or put in prison for the remainder of the police chief's tenure.
