(Minghui.org) Despite recent attacks and acts of vandalism by pro-Chinese Communist Party (CCP) groups in Hong Kong, Falun Gong practitioners continue to host information booths and public events to raise awareness of the CCP’s persecution of their faith.

Alan Keung, a local pastor, said he admires practitioners’ perseverance and Falun Gong’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. “They are suffering, but I see that every practitioner upholds his belief. Their brilliance illuminates the darkness,” he said.
Practitioners Awaken Hong Kong People
Keung said that although the CCP has tried to make people believe that “patriotism equals love for the Party,” suppress practitioners, and even infiltrate Hong Kong’s various professions, Falun Gong practitioners have persisted in raising awareness for more than two decades. He said their efforts have awakened people and said Hongkongers should learn from practitioners.
He added that the CCP’s suppression of basic rights in Hong Kong in recent events from 2019 to 2021 make locals “feel unbearable… some want to give up or are discouraged.”
Keung said practitioners’ perseverance against the persecution makes them role models. “Their patience is worth learning,” he said. “In adversity, how to cultivate through patience to (achieve) spiritual improvement, I think, is definitely worth learning.”
Pastor Helps Expose The Persecution of Falun Gong in China
Pastor Keung was arrested as a front-line volunteer aid worker during the Hong Kong protests, also known as the Anti-Extradition Law Amendment Bill Movement. He’s now the host of Free Hongkong Media. He believes that free speech can only be done through online media.
During a recent program, he talked about how Falun Gong practitioners in China are persecuted: “In addition to arresting them at their homes or intercepting them on the street, [the CCP] also constantly harasses them on the Internet and phones them to ask where they live. And then it threatens them.”
He said that a Chinese netizen once told him that some Falun Gong practitioners in Changchun City, Jilin Province in northeastern China were “disappeared.” They went grocery shopping and disappeared shortly after they left home. The man said some of them are still missing.
Pastor Keung pointed out that the CCP has persecuted Falun Gong severely for more than 20 years and that the situation they face is difficult for the outside world to know. Even though many media outlets know that Falun Gong is persecuted, most of them choose to self-censor or remain silent, as if the persecution of Falun Gong is taboo to report on.
But Keung covers the persecution of Falun Gong in his Free Hongkong Media and stressed, “The truth must be reported.”
Like most Hong Kong residents, Keung has seen Falun Gong practitioners’ booths, which display information about the persecution, including how the CCP tortures practitioners and even kills them for organs. “I pay special attention to the organ harvesting, because I know that Falun Gong practitioners are healthy,” he said, referring to the transplant patients’ desire for organs from young, healthy donors.
“The Darker Your Surroundings, The Brighter You Appear”
Pastor Keung said the CCP used the Hong Kong Youth Care Association to attack Falun Gong practitioners. “It’s like they were possessed by evil spirits—they were completely ignorant of what they did,” he said. “They were ridiculous. What they said had no substance.”
He said he watched Falun Gong practitioners holding a peaceful assembly in Hong Kong. Across the street were members of the Youth Care Association, shouting at practitioners. He wanted to find out why Falun Gong practitioners were so persistent while the pro-communist group behaved so belligerently.
So, he asked the Youth Care group a few questions. “They answered me using the same few words. Four or five people took turns, and they all said the same thing. Others said they did not know anything. I thought that if they did not know anything, then why did they wear vests that slandered Falun Gong?” he recalled.
Commenting on the CCP’s increasingly heavy-handed intimidation, Keung said, “There’s an old saying that whom the gods would destroy they first make mad.”
About the people of Hong Kong, he said, “We will not give up. Our hearts must be ready to welcome the next great era. Don’t give up! The darker your surroundings, the brighter you appear.”
