(Minghui.org) A Qingyuan County, Liaoning Province resident was recently sentenced to three years for his faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Sui Yinghua, 49, was arrested at work on September 6, 2020. The police ransacked his home and held him at the Qingyuan County Detention Center. His arrest was approved on September 22.
The police submitted Mr. Sui’s case to the Wanghua District Procuratorate on October 13 and he was indicted on January 6.
On March 12, he was tried by the Wanghua District Court and sentenced to three years with 10,000 yuan fine. A court-appointed lawyer entered a guilty plea for him. His family wasn’t informed of the trial.
Mr. Sui is appealing the case with Fushun City Intermediate Court.
Prior to his latest sentencing, Mr. Sui went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong on December 31, 2000. He and dozens of other practitioners displayed a banner that was 99 meters long at Tiananmen Square and were arrested. The Dongcheng District Court in Beijing sentenced him to 3.5 years in August 2001.
