(Minghui.org) The Culpeper County Board of Supervisors in Virginia of the United States on May 4, 2021 passed a resolution condemning the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution of Falun Gong and its state-sanctioned organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners and other prisoners of conscience.
According to local media Starexponent in an article titled “Culpeper stands with Falun Gong in adopting resolution decrying organ harvesting,” “Culpeper County Administrator John Egertson read the resolution into the record. Stevensburg Supervisor Bill Chase seconded the motion for adoption.”
Speaking of the CCP's practice of forced organ harvesting, Chase was quoted as saying, “Falun Gong is a fine organization and this is a terrible practice that is going.”
The Culpeper County board supervisors said in the resolution that they “condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the persecution of Falun Gong and the state-sponsored organ harvesting of prisoners of conscience currently being carried out by the Chinese Communist regime.” They also urge “the United States government to thoroughly investigate organ transplant practices in China and take all reasonable steps to end the practice of nonconsensual organ harvesting from Falun Gong practitioners.”
Jack Frazier, one of the board members who initiated the resolution, said that he hopes to raise awareness among residents of Culpeper County that they shouldn’t go to China for organ transplants, as it is murder.
Frazier said to local media Starexponent that “I think it is very worthwhile… there is a tremendous cover-up here … we as the people of Culpeper need to stand with you all and say hey we need to get the word out—it’s not getting out.”
According to the Starexponent report, Tiny Tang, a Chinese immigrant, gave a presentation about Falun Gong during the board of supervisors meeting. She said that Falun Gong is a spiritual discipline that “involves gentle exercises, meditation and a focus on truthfulness, compassion and tolerance.” It has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Tang cited a 2016 hearing at the U.S. Congress that found nearly 65,000 people, mostly of whom Falun Gong practitioners, have been killed for their organs between 2000 and 2008 while being incarcerated.
Ms. Tang told the board supervisors that “in the early 2000s, Chinese hospitals began advertising short wait times for organ transplants, an offer bolstered by the ‘industrial scale’ killing of Falun Gong to sell their organs,” according to Starexponent.
Another Falun Gong practitioner, who was once imprisoned for seven years in China for her faith, testified at the meeting that she was forced to sew jackets for up to 18 hours a day without pay. She managed to take several jackets out from the prison and also showed them to the board.
“She was fortunate to escape China with her life. More than 20 of her fellow practitioners were tortured to death,” Ms. Tang said during her presentation.
