(Minghui.org) A traditional Chinese medicine clinic that offered a treatment called moxibustion opened close to my home last December. I passed by it every day but never thought it had anything to do with me.
I’ve suffered from back pain for much of this year. When the pain was at its worst, I thought about trying moxibustion, but I didn’t go to the clinic because I didn’t think it was appropriate for a Falun Dafa practitioner.
I happened to run into a friend when I was passing the moxibustion clinic in March. She told me a lot of the benefits of moxibustion and urged me to give it a try. She even shared a free trial certificate valid for three treatments. I gave it a try and it eased my back pain. I thought it wouldn’t conflict with my cultivation since I didn’t get an injection or take medicine.
I went for the second treatment the next day. That evening my son got a little drunk. He bumped his leg on the door on his way to his bedroom. The blood-colored bruise was pretty painful. I thought it was due to his own karma.
On the third day, I went to the clinic again for another trial treatment. My son’s leg didn’t improve. He didn’t want to take any medicine, but it was so painful that he couldn’t walk normally. In the evening, he started complaining about having back pain for some reason and got restless. I started to wonder why.
His agonized face alerted me. I looked within and realized that I shouldn’t have gone for the moxibustion treatments. I confessed in front of Master Li’s picture, “Master, I was wrong. Please forgive me!”
I realized that a genuine practitioner wouldn’t get moxibustion treatments to begin with. It’s a matter of faith. My faith in Dafa was not absolute. My treatments were also related to the principle of no second practice. Master tried to awaken me with my son’s leg pain, but I didn’t get it and thought it was his own issue.
Nothing happens to a practitioner without reason. Master’s words came to my mind, “...you should first look within anytime you meet with trouble,” (“2018 Fa Teaching Given in Washington, D.C.,” Team Yellow Translation)
When I seriously looked within, I was surprised at how, as a Falun Dafa practitioner, I could have gone for those moxibustion treatments. I was determined to stop right away, let go of all my attachments, and firmly believe in Falun Dafa and Master.
I sent forth righteous thoughts to eliminate my attachments and studied the Fa more. The next day, my son told me that his back had stopped hurting without taking any medicine. I sincerely thanked Master!
I looked within further, wondering why my back pain had lasted for two months but my son’s back pain vanished so quickly. I’d always regarded my own back pain as dissolving karma and tried to endure it. However, it shouldn’t have lasted so long. Though it didn’t stop me from talking to people about Falun Dafa, it made walking difficult. There must be a reason. Where did I fall short?
I suddenly realized that, ever since my back pain started, I always leaned on something when I studied the Fa or did the exercises. It was hard for me to climb the stairs when I went to group Fa study. Isn’t leaning on something an ordinary people’s way to ease back pain?
I realized my attachment to comfort and my fear of suffering. Didn’t my attachment feed demons? I had to eliminate it.
Master has told us to keep our back and neck straight in The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection. I had to correct myself immediately and remove my attachment to comfort. Genuine cultivation means having complete faith and treating oneself as a practitioner.
Something amazing happened in three days: my back stopped hurting. Thank you, Master! It’s just like Master said,
“...When disciples have ample righteous thoughtsMaster has the power to turn back the tide”(“The Master-Disciple Bond,” Hong Yin Volume II, Translation Version A)
“In other dimensions there’s a process for evolving gong, and that, too, is an incredibly complex and incredibly fascinating process, and you can’t just freely mix other things into it while you’re cultivating.” (The Third Talk, Zhuan Falun)
I’m determined to follow Master’s teachings, be strict with myself, and truly treat myself as a practitioner.
The above is my limited understanding. Please feel free to point out anything inappropriate.
