(Minghui.org) I recently enlightened to the fact that looking down on other people actually hinders one from improving. If we look down on other people, when others selflessly share their enlightenment in cultivation with us, we will subconsciously disregard their experiences and not take what they say to heart. We might take the matter lightly and be unable to gain insights. If someone we look down on points out our shortcomings, we might dismiss what they say and disregard their advice. We thus won’t be able to improve in a timely manner.
Looking down on other people probably stems from arrogance, or from jealously. It may also be from Party culture. If we delve more deeply into the origins of looking down on others, we will find many other attachments.
Practitioners who look down on others tend to have inflated egos, and ultimately these practitioners could breed demons in their own minds. When we look down on others, practitioners won’t be able to form a whole body and barriers will develop between practitioners. Looking down on others is a very bad attachment that has to be eliminated.
The above are some of my recent understandings about cultivation. If anything is not in line with the Fa, please point it out with compassion.
