(Minghui.org) The authorities in Laishan District, Yantai City, Shandong Province orchestrated a group arrest of local Falun Gong practitioners on June 10, 2021. At the time of writing, 15 practitioners remain in custody.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Under the direction of Xin Xun, the head of the Laishan District Police Department, the police monitored and tracked the practitioners’ locations through their cellphones for a period of time before carrying out the arrests. Xin bragged about the arrests afterwards.

Liu Baodong, the head of the Laishan District Domestic Security Office, led a dozen officers from the Shengquan Police Station to break into 68-year-old Ms. Sun Qiuhong’s home at 3 p.m. on June 10. The officers ransacked her home until 11 p.m. Ms. Sun’s computer, printer, Falun Gong books and other personal belongings were taken away. Liu Baorong from the Laishan District Police Department also participated in the arrest and home-ransacking.

With the items confiscated from Ms. Sun as “prosecution evidence,” the authorities approved her arrest. She is now held at the Fushan Detention Center. It’s reported that she has developed a medical condition while in custody.

Other practitioners who were arrested included Ms. Sun Dongfang and her husband Mr. Chang, Mr. Yang Fachang, Ms. Qiu Liying, Ms. Gong Yuanyuan and a practitioner surnamed Gao.

Mr. Yang’s cellphone was taken away and his contact information was extracted by the police. He was also forced to provide information about the practitioners. He was released the day after his arrest.

Ms. Qiu refused to answer any of the police’s question and was released the same day of her arrest.

Ms. Gong was arrested at her daughter’s home in Qingdao, about 150 miles from Yantai.

At the time of writing, fifteen practitioners are still detained at the Fushan Detention Center. Their names are being investigated.
