(Minghui.org) Fifteen residents of Wuhan City, Hubei Province remain detained for their faith in Falun Gong and some are facing prosecution.

All Falun Gong cases in Wuhan are now handled by the Hanyang District Procuratorate and Hanyang District Court. Some practitioners’ verdicts were predetermined by the Wuhan City Intermediate Court and Political and Legal Affairs Committee, an extra-judiciary agency tasked with persecuting Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Ouyang Ruyun, 73, was arrested on March 20, 2019 and detained at the Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center. She fell into critical condition in custody and was hospitalized. Her family hasn’t received any update about her since then.

Ms. Liu Jianqun was arrested on September 9, 2020. She has been detained incommunicado at the Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center for a year.

Ms. Dong Dae, in her 70s, was arrested on November 4, 2020, after being recorded by surveillance camera distributing Falun Gong materials. It was confirmed in February 2021 that she is detained at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Sun Dongmin and her sister Ms. Sun Junying were arrested on December 27, 2020 for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong. Their arrests were approved by the Hanyang District Procuratorate in late January 2021. They are now detained at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Tu Kuijin, 67, was recorded by surveillance camera distributing informational materials about Falun Gong in mid-January 2021. The police followed her home and arrested her. Her husband, who didn’t practice Falun Gong, was also arrested and briefly held in custody. She is now detained at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Zhou Xiuhua was first arrested on July 15, 2020, and later released on bail. The police took her back into custody at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center on January 28, 2021. Her case was first submitted to the Dongxihu District Procuratorate and then transferred to the Hanyang District Procuratorate. The prosecutor returned the case to the police due to insufficient evidence on March 18, 2021. The police submitted the case a second time on April 18. Two months later on June 10, prosecutor Wu Songen indicted Ms. Zhou and moved her case to the Hanyang District Court.

Mr. Wang Xianqiu, 49, was arrested on January 30, 2021, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong materials at the Longquan Town. He was held at a lockup for two weeks and then transferred to the Wuhan City No. 4 Detention Center on February 14. The Gaoxin Procuratorate in Donghu District transferred his case to the Hongshan District Procuratorate on May 9. He was indicted on June 8 and is now facing trial by the Hongshan District Court.

Ms. Luo Yuanying and Ms. Huang Hongwei were arrested on February 22, 2021 for talking to people about Falun Gong on the street. Both of them are now held at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center.

Ms. Tong Li was arrested in March 2021 and is now detained at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center. The police has submitted her case to the procuratorate.

Ms. Yang Jiamin was arrested on May 12, 2021, after surveillance cameras recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials. The police located her home after going through the footage. She is now held in the Jiang’an District Detention Center. Her family received a notice on June 18 that her arrest had been approved. Her case has been submitted to the Hanyang District Court.

Ms. Chen Wenjuan was arrested on May 19, 2021, after a surveillance camera recorded her distributing Falun Gong materials the day before. The police located her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books. The Hanyang District Procuratorate indicted her on July 21, 2021, and moved her case to the Hanyang District Court.

Ms. Tian Huaying was arrested on July 15, 2020 and released on the next day. She was taken back into custody to Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center on July 1, 2021, after she was indicted. Her lawyer learned in early September that the Hanyang District Court has returned her case to the police, citing insufficient evidence.

Ms. Shen Yangjiao was arrested in July 2021 and also detained at Wuhan City No.1 Women’s Detention Center. The authorities have threatened to sentence her.
