(Minghui.org) The police officers in Lindian County, Daqing City, Heilongjiang Province, often steal cash and valuables from Falun Gong practitioners when they ransack their homes.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Mr. Sun Deguo and Mr. Dai Zhidong were arrested on January 8, 2022, after they were reported for giving out a pamphlet with information about Falun Gong at a gas station. Wei Fang, the head of Lindian County Domestic Security Office, entered Mr. Sun’s apartment at 4 p.m. that day with the key he’d confiscated from him. His two roommates, Mr. Sun Wenzhong and Mr. Zhang Liguo, were also arrested.
Without showing any IDs or search warrant, the police confiscated the practitioners’ Falun Gong books, debit cards, and computers. The police drank 12 cans of coconut water without asking permission and also took 12 pairs of Mr. Sun Deguo’s gloves that he used to load goods at work. After the raid, Mr. Sun discovered over 20,000 yuan in cash was missing. When he asked Wei about it, Wei claimed that she only took 10,000 yuan.
Wei also ransacked Mr. Dai’s home and confiscated all of his savings of 5,000 yuan in cash. All four practitioners were ordered to pay a 10,000-yuan bond before they were released on bail.
Mr. Dai’s wife died of illness a year ago, and he was still struggling to pay off her medical expenses. With the latest round of financial persecution, he worried if he would ever be able to pay off all the debts. The mental pressure took a toll on his health and he passed away on February 11, 2022. He was 60.
The police later submitted Mr. Sun Wenzhong’s case to the procuratorate. He was sentenced to three and a half years by the Ranghulu District Court in August 2022.
Ms. Zhao Li, 57, also had a similar experience after she was arrested on July 12, 2022, and her home was ransacked by Li Jingfu of the Lindian County Police Station. She had 25,000 yuan in cash at home before the raid, but there was only 15,000 yuan left after the raid. Her gold necklace also went missing.
Ms. Zhao is now being held in the Daqing City No.2 Detention Center. The police have submitted her case to the High-tech Development Zone Procuratorate.
