1. [Taian City, Shandong Province] Ms. Sun Jinhui Arrested
Ms. Sun Jinhui, 48, of the Taishan District, was arrested for distributing Falun Gong desk calendars by officers from the Taishan District Police Department on December 10, 2021. The Taishan District Procuratorate filed charges against her. She was sentenced to five years and two months in prison and fined 20,000 yuan by the Taishan District Court on July 20, 2022. Her appeal was denied by the Taian City Intermediate Court. She was placed under house arrest because of her poor health.
She was arrested at her home after 9:00 a.m. on September 22, 2022 by Zhang Qingmin from the Taian City Police Department and Zhang Xunzhao from the Taishan District Police Department. She was forced to undergo a nucleic acid test in the city’s No. 2 Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital. She was then taken to the Nanguan Police Station. The officers handcuffed her hands behind her back. They twisted her, pinched her face, and shoved a rag into her mouth.
Four officers brought her to the Xintai Workers Hospital after 1:00 p.m., where she underwent a detention center entry physical exam. They then took her to the Xintai City Detention Center and waited at the entrance. The physical exam report came after 5:00 p.m. She was released.
2. [Beijing] Mr. Pang You Held in Police Hospital
Mr. Pang You’s family received a call from the Changping Detention Center around the mid-autumn festival (September 10). Mr. Pang had swollen feet with purulent discharge because of high blood sugar, and was taken to the Beijing Police Hospital. The family was not allowed to visit him. Details are unknown.
3. [Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province] Ms. Li Chaoqun and Her Daughter Formally Arrested
Ms. Li Chaoqun of the Chaisang District and her daughter were arrested on August 12, 2022. They have since been held in the Jiujiang City Detention Center. Two attorneys who were hired by their family requested to meet with them, but the Chaisang District Domestic Security Division denied their request. The mother and daughter were formally arrested.
4. [Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province] Practitioners Arrested in Acheng District
The Acheng District Domestic Security Division directed police stations in its jurisdiction to harass and arrest practitioners in August 2022. At least 12 practitioners were arrested on September 26.
Liu Chunhong, head of the Domestic Security Division, and Yang Zhiheng, deputy head, led officers, including officers from the Chengbei Police Station to arrest Ms. Jiang Yifen and her husband, Mr. Kan Daping, at their home on March 3, 2022. They also arrested Ms. Zheng Yufang, who lived in the same community as Ms. Jiang. Ms. Jiang was held in the Harbin City No. 2 Detention Center.
5. [Beijing] Mr. Ma Zhanquan Harassed
Mr. Ma Zhanquan of the Pinggu District received a harassing call from the Yuyang Police Station on the afternoon of September 23, 2022. The officer questioned him about his wife, Ms. Tian Shurong, and demanded to meet them at their home.
Community officer Li Dongsheng and officer Bao, who was wearing a police camcorder, went to their home at around 5:00 p.m. They collected their personal information, including that of their child, Ma Jiang. They asked if they practiced Falun Gong, etc.
6. [Suizhou City, Hubei Province] Two Practitioners Harassed
Two elderly practitioners in the Xincheng Village, Taibaiding, were reading a Falun Gong book together on September 7, 2022. The village’s Chinese Communist Party (CCP) secretary Fang Yi and officers from the Xincheng Police Station seized their Falun Gong books. The details are unknown.
7. [Pingliang City, Gansu Province] Wang Yugui Harassed
Wang Yugui, 70, of Nanhu Town, Zhuanglang County (gender unknown), was harassed at home by two officers from the Nanhu Town Police Station on September 24, 2022. They photographed Wang against his or her will and threatened him or her.
Wang has been repeatedly harassed, threatened, and detained for practicing Falun Gong.
8. [Dachang County, Hebei Province] Practitioners Harassed
Practitioners in Dachang County were harassed by officer Fu Haitao and others from the Chenfu Police Station on September 8-18, 2022. The following practitioners are known to have been harassed: Zhang Shuying and Zhang Guifang of Manxingying Village; Jia Cuirong, Wang Yuwen, Liu Xiuyun, and Xing Guizhen, nearly 80, of Lanzhanghu Village; Ms. Liu Jirong, 72, Ms. Xu Zhenfang, 78, Yu Jinyin, Gao Tianyun, and Liu Xia of Majiamiao Village; Gao Shuling, Yang Jinlong, and Wang Shufen of Taipingzhuang Village; Ms. Zhang Xiulan, in her 70s, and Wang Yuxia of Xiaotuotou Village; Si Wanping and Zhou Yufen of Rongmafang Village.
9. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Practitioners Harassed
Wang Yingdong, Lu Jingna, Liu Yuna, and others, have been harassed by officers from the Gaotuan Town Police Station since late September 2022. The officers ransacked Liu Yuna’s home at around 9:30 a.m. on October 1, 2022. They seized a picture of Falun Gong’s founder and other belongings. They threatened to arrest the practitioners.
