(Minghui.org) Six Liquan County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province residents were arrested on September 30, 2022 for practicing Falun Gong. Two of them are on hunger strikes to protest the arbitrary detention.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
A group of officers went to the home of Xiaoyan (surname unknown) on the morning of September 30, but didn’t find her. They then went to her clothing store and arrested her there.
At the same time, another group of officers went to Ms. Li Xianghong’s home and her clothing store. Her dozens of Falun Gong books were confiscated.
The third practitioner, Mr. Wang Nan, was arrested around noon when he returned home. Three more practitioners, Ms. Li Jing, Mr. Zhang Tao and a male practitioner whose name is unknown, were also arrested on the same day.
The practitioners’ arrests were ordered by the Qian County Domestic Security Office, after the officers saw the practitioners distributing Falun Gong materials in Qian County (neighboring Liquan County) through surveillance cameras.
All six of the practitioners were put on criminal detention on October 15. The female practitioners are held at the Liquan County Detention Center and the male practitioners are at the Qian County Detention Center. Ms. Li and Xiaoyan are currently staging a hunger strike.
In addition to the six practitioners discussed above, several other practitioners in Liquan County were harassed around October 10. Three have been forced to live away from home to avoid further police harassment and possible arrest.
