(Minghui.org) I met my husband when we were in college. After graduation, we were assigned to state-owned enterprises, only to be laid off soon after. We later found jobs in a different city in 1999 and we’ve been living there since.
In the summer of 2003, I received a DVD with information about Falun Dafa. I watched it with my husband. I was skeptical in the beginning. But my husband had no doubt that everything shown on the DVD was true. He also told me that many of the engineers at his previous workplace practiced Falun Dafa and they were all very good people.
Not long after, I began to practice Falun Dafa myself.
My husband worked at a small company, and his job was very tiring and the pay was low. He had been wanting to find a better job. Shortly after we watched the DVD, a recruiter approached him and helped him land a job at a foreign company in a nearby big city, which offered much better pay and benefits.
After working for the foreign company for over a decade, my husband moved back to our city in 2017 and began to work for a local company. He often watched NTDTV, a New York-based TV station that offers uncensored news coverage, and said the programs were honest and informative. He also watched the commentary programs hosted by Falun Dafa practitioners and said he learned so much from them.
I was arrested in 2020 for distributing informational materials about Falun Dafa. After I was released, I was forced to live away from home to hide from the police. My husband tried his best to help me, although he was under tremendous pressure himself.
His kind heart and support of Dafa earned him blessings. Now in his 50s, people often comment on how young he looks. He has been very healthy all these years. When most of his colleagues only got half a bonus due to the poor economy during the pandemic, his bonus was three times what he’d received before.
I sometimes asked my husband how he looked at the good things that happened to him. He said he felt that he was blessed by the divine. He said he was grateful that he didn’t continue to work at the state-owned enterprise, as otherwise he may have been deceived by the communist regime and unknowingly done bad things for them.
Although my husband hasn’t practiced Dafa yet, he lives by Dafa’s principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Earlier this year, the kitchen sewer system in our apartment building was clogged and no one wanted to take the lead to fix it. Water often leaked into our home from upstairs. My husband spent the money himself to unclog the sewer and he only charged a little money from the neighbor upstairs.
Another time when he was taking a bus, two elderly passengers didn’t know how to use their mobile phones to pay for the bus fare and they didn’t have any change either. My husband went ahead and paid the fare for them.
The Story of My Son
My son was nine when I started to practice Falun Dafa in 2004. At first, he was scared when I was reading Zhuan Falun. He showed me how his school textbook, Morality Textbook, demonized the practice. I clarified the facts to him and told him that Dafa teaches people to be good. He later read Zhuan Falun himself and also tried to live by Dafa’s principles himself.
One day while he was walking to school, a female classmate pushed him from behind and he almost fell. He didn’t fight back, but kept walking. The classmate followed him and kicked him from behind. He still didn’t respond to it and kept walking to his classroom.
My son struggled with poor health since young. He had to go to the hospital almost every month. After he started school, he often had a fever, rhinitis and tonsillitis. After I started to practice Dafa, his health improved. Sometimes when he had a fever, I played the lectures of Master Li (the founder of Falun Dafa) to him and he would recover soon without going to the hospital.
After my son went to college, he didn’t squander money or become addicted to computer games or cellphones like many of his friends did.
My son just graduated college and was applying for jobs in the government when the pandemic broke out in 2020. Just as he underwent a political background check, I was arrested for practicing Dafa. But with Master’s protection, he passed the background check and got his dream job. Even the police chief wondered how he passed the background check.
Later, I decided to live away from home to hide from the police. Unable to find me, the police went to harass my son. In the beginning, I was worried whether he would be implicated because of me. But I was soon relieved to see that he stayed unmoved in front of the pressure. He also found a girlfriend shortly after and got married. Despite the lockdown, everything has gone very smoothly for him.
