(Minghui.org) Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison, located in Nanchang City, has nine divisions, and has been persecuting Falun Gong practitioners since 1999. The prison guards use various methods to torture them and hypocritical ways to deceive them in attempts to force them to give up their faith.
The prison has used innumerable methods of torture attempting to force Falun Gong practitioners to give up their faith, including making them stand still for long periods of time, intensive slave labor, beatings, hanging them from their handcuffed wrists, tying them up, humiliation, coercive brainwashing, administering nerve-altering drugs, and sleep deprivation, among others.
The prison uses closed-off management, making it difficult for the outside world to know the extent of the persecution that the practitioners had suffered. Below are some details of the persecution of some practitioners collected by Minghui.org.
Ms. Chen Yulian
Ms. Chen Yulian of Nanchang City was taken to Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison in late 2019 to serve an 8-year term. As she refused to renounce her faith, guards instructed the inmates to tie her up to a window frame and put papers containing defaming words about Falun Gong in front of her. She couldn’t walk after being deprived of food for a few days. The guards then grabbed her legs and dragged her down the stairs. The dragging caused most of her body to be exposed, and her head banged against the stairs.
Ms. Chen went on a long-term hunger strike and was force-fed. The food was often spilled on her hair and body. The guards also added an unknown substance to the food without letting her know.

Ms. Chen Wen
Ms. Chen Wen of Nanchang City was sentenced to 9.5 years. A few guards punched and kicked her, as she refused to memorize the prison rules or write a guarantee statement. She was made to stand from morning to midnight and only allowed to sleep after that.
The guards did not allow her to wash her face, rinse her mouth, nor did they give her any toilet paper or sanitary napkins when she had her menstrual period. When she had not finished using the restroom, the guards pulled her up and did not allow her to clean herself. The guards threatened to punish anyone who dared to give toilet paper to her. She was also not allowed to use the restroom from morning to night. If any of the inmates who were assigned to monitor her did not monitor her strictly, they were punished and made to stand for long hours.
When Ms. Chen went on a hunger strike, the guards ordered a few inmates to force-feed her, soiling her clothes and hair.
Ms. Li Meilian
Ms. Li Meilian, 57, from Yingtan City, became disabled in October 2003 after a broken glass cut her hamstring when she was previously tortured at Jiangxi Women’s Prison. She was arrested again in March 2020 and sentenced to another 8 years at Jiangxi Women’s Prison.

Ms. Li was held at the No. 2 Division. In July 2020, she was kicked from behind by an inmate while queuing up to enter the workshop. As she was handcuffed, she could not use her hands to support herself from falling, and became seriously injured.
As she refused to renounce Falun Gong, the guards stomped on her head and force-fed her with unknown medicine. She shouted “Falun Dafa is good” in protest and was dragged to the restroom and beaten.
Ms. Li Lanying
Ms. Li Lanying, 64, of Ganzhou City, was sentenced to 8 years in 2015. She was tortured severely, and passed out several times.

Ms. Li is currently detained at the No. 1 Division and forced to make shoes for up to 12 hours a day. She is allowed to use the restroom only once in the morning.
Since 2020, the inmate assigned to monitor Ms. Li often hit her at random. She was also forced to attend brainwashing sessions twice a week.
Ms. Li was not allowed to shower in the summer for many years. She was often not allowed to eat or could not have a full meal. She became emaciated.
Ms. Zhang Xiaohong
Ms. Zhang Xiaohong, in her 60s, was arrested on August 14, 2019. She was sentenced to 4.5 years in 2020. She has become paralyzed on her left side due to a stroke shortly after being taken to the Jiangxi Women’s Prison, and struggles to care for herself.
Other Practitioners
Ms. Zhu Di, in her 30s, is a native of Pingxiang City. She was sentenced to three years. Two years ago, she became mentally incoherent after being persecuted at Jiangxi Women’s Prison.
Another practitioner from Dexing City whose name isn’t known also became mentally incoherent after being persecuted by an inmate.
