(Minghui.org) A 54-year-old Hengshui City, Hebei Province resident was sentenced to three years in September 2022 for her faith in Falun Gong, a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yang Yingchun was arrested in 2020, after being reported by three students for talking to them about Falun Gong. She was tried by the Jing County Court on July 1, 2022 and sentenced to three years two months later.
Since the persecution of Falun Gong started in 1999, Ms. Yang has been repeatedly harassed by the authorities, as she refused to renounce her faith, which she credits for improving her health and turning her into a more considerate person.
In 2018, the 610 Office ordered local government to make a video to slander Falun Gong. In the video, a woman, who is a relative of one of the village officials, pretended to be Ms. Yang and slandered Falun Gong. She was paid 5,000 yuan for appearing in the video.
