(Minghui.org) The documentary “Up We Soar” was screened on Saturday, February 19, 2022, at the Doğan Taşdelen Contemporary Arts Center, located in the center of the capital city of Çankaya Municipality. Officials working at the center said that many people called to get information about the film before the show, and about 80 people attended. Falun Dafa practitioners chatted with the guests before the screening, and noticed that people were interested in the materials on view.

Attendees read the Falun Dafa brochure and Minghui magazine before the screening.

The security guard told a practitioner who was directing theatergoers to their seats, “Normally, 15-20 people at most attend the films shown here, but there was a lot of interest in your film; it’s crowded.”

After the documentary was shown, practitioners talked about Falun Dafa and the persecution in China. They also told those in attendance that they could access the film on the faluninfo.net website, and that events like this one were held to inform people about the ongoing persecution in China and that they could follow Falun Dafa Turkey’s social media accounts to learn of other events.

During the question and answer time, many audience members commented that they had not heard about the persecution before, and that they found the film very impressive. The first question was, “Why is Falun Dafa being persecuted in China?”

Practitioners on the stage explained and demonstrated the Falun Dafa exercises to the remaining audience members.

Mr. Volkan gave his opinion about the film.

One member of the audience, Mr. Volkan, said that he found out about the film thanks to the poster hanging outside the center. He was particularly interested in animation. He said that he had never heard of Falun Dafa before but he was interested. He added that the Chinese government might specifically suppress news about the persecution so that people outside of China don’t hear about it.

Medical student Aslı, and Beyza, who is studying at METU, expressed their opinions after the film. Aslı said, “I didn’t know much [about this] before I came, and I didn’t know that it was true. So it’s something I want to research to find out more.” Beyza said, “It was awe-inspiring that they were able to go through such difficulties and overcome them thanks to their faith.”

While chatting with practitioners before the film, Ms. Gulsevil said that she had a copy of Zhuan Falun at home but had not read it yet. She said, “In the film, it showed people in China who were oppressed for advocating a certain belief, a certain philosophy… God be with the good people.” She added that she wanted to read Zhuan Falun as soon as she could.
