(Minghui.org) Severe COVID-19 outbreaks have been reported in 23 provinces and municipalities in China recently, including Shanghai, Jilin Province, Guangdong Province, Yunnan Province, Hebei Province, and Inner Mongolia. Eleven districts in Shanghai and seven cities in Jilin Province are rated as high risk areas.
Jilin Province: Cities on Lockdown, Residents Go Through Rounds of PCR Tests
The latest outbreak in Jilin Province is among the worst in China. Residents in Changchun City, the capital of Jilin, have completed two rounds of PCR tests and a third round was in preparation.
In Dunhua, another city in Jilin, the local government announced a lockdown at 4:00 p.m. on March 9, 2022. All local residents were ordered to go through three rounds of PCR tests. Trains and buses (both local and long-distance) are all suspended.
Another city in Jilin Province was also hit hard. Starting on March 6, the authorities in Fengman District, Jilin City, began to block local residents from leaving their subdivisions, except essential workers from the water or power companies. Nobody was allowed to go out for grocery shopping, but could order takeout and pick up at the gate of their subdivision. No walking was allowed in community parks either, except when doing PCR tests.
Shanghai: Outbreak Heats up
Outbreaks in Shanghai began to pick up on March 9.
On March 10, residents under the jurisdiction of Puxing Street, Pudong District were ordered to undergo PCR tests. Five students in a fifth-grade class at Hudong Primary School in Pudong were absent from class. Nearly 20 residential subdivisions in the Jinqiao area of Pudong were closed, as well as a neighborhood in Minhang District and another village in Hongkou District.
Information about the outbreaks is being strictly censored. Reports about it have been deleted on several well-known forums in Shanghai.
