(Minghui.org) A 68-year-old woman in Xinyu City, Jiangxi Province has been taken to the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison to serve a three-year term for practicing Falun Gong.

Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.

Ms. Gao Jufang was arrested on August 5, 2020, after being reported for distributing Falun Gong informational materials in a residential area. Her Falun Gong books and a photo of the founder of Falun Gong were confiscated from her home.

The Yushui District Court sentenced Ms. Gao to three years with a 2,000-yuan fine around January 2021. She appealed but her appeal was rejected by the Xinyu City Intermediate Court in January 2021.

This is the second time that Ms. Gao has been sentenced for her faith. She was previously arrested in September 2012 for talking to people about Falun Gong and sentenced to four years in the Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison by the Yushui District Court on January 6, 2013.

The Jiangxi Province Women’s Prison has been participating in the persecution of Falun Gong since 1999. The prison guards use various methods to torture the practitioners and also try to deceive them in order to force them to give up their faith. At least 32 practitioners, including Ms. Gao, are currently incarcerated there.
