(Minghui.org) The case against a Weihai City, Shandong Province resident for her faith in Falun Gong was recently dropped by the local police.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Yu Yingchun was arrested on the morning of July 3, 2020 while waiting for a green light at an intersection. After she was taken to the Tianfu Police Station, a 610 Office agent showed her a woman’s photo and said, “You’ve lost a lot of weight.”
Ms. Yu looked at the photo and realized that it was not her, though the person did look like her. She told the police they arrested the wrong person. They then released her in the afternoon.
Two 610 Office agents knocked on her door on January 15, 2021. Shortly after, a third agent came. They said that Ms. Yu was reported for putting up posters about Falun Gong and ransacked her home. The agents then took Mr. Yu to the Tianfu Police Station for interrogation. They also summoned her husband to the police station and ordered him to sign her bail release document, which she had refused to sign.
Six months later, officers of the Wendeng District Domestic Security Office summoned Ms. Yu to sign other case documents. She refused to comply. The police thus forced her husband to sign on her behalf again. They continued to monitor her daily activities and followed her after that.
Two officers of Wendeng District Domestic Security Office delivered a document to Ms. Yu on December 14, 2021, and told her they had submitted her case to the Wendeng District Procuratorate. She was charged with “undermining law enforcement with a cult organization,” the standard pretext used to criminalize Falun Gong in China. For an unknown reason, the police told Ms. Yu that they had decided to withdraw her case on May 6, 2022.
