(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 13 cities or counties in 7 provinces, where at least 37 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Xiaogan City, Hubei Province] Ms. Luo Guilan Detained
Ms. Luo Guilan from Xiaochang County, nearly 70, was reported to the police for telling people about Falun Gong. She was taken to the Xiaochang Brainwashing Center on May 23, 2022.
There were five practitioners detained in the brainwashing center in May 2022. Ms. Li Youlin from the Baisha Health Center and an elderly woman from Doushan Township were tormented until they nearly collapsed mentally before they were released. Ms. Luo and two other practitioners are still being held in the brainwashing center.
2. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Zhang Meiling and Ms. Sun Dingmei’s Verdicts Upheld in the Intermediate Court
More than 10 practitioners were arrested by Laishan District officers on June 10, 2019, and detained in the Fushan Detention Center. Three of them, Ms. Zhang Meiling, Ms. Sun Dingmei, and Ms. Sun Qiuhong, were detained for eight months before they were sentenced in early February 2022. Ms. Zhang Meiling was sentenced to three years and six months in prison and fined 6000 yuan; Ms. Sun Dingmei was sentenced to three years and fined 5000 yuan; Ms. Sun Qiuhong was sentenced to three years with four years of probation and was fined 10,000 yuan.
Ms. Zhang Meiling and Ms. Sun Dingmei appealed to the Yantai Intermediate Court but the verdicts were upheld.
3. [Mudanjiang City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Chen Xitao in Prison
Ms. Chen Xitao’s family received a notice on May 26, 2022, that Ms. Chen had been taken to the Heilongjiang Women’s Prison.
4. [Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia] Mr. Wang Jinyu and Mr. Ji Mingming in Prison
It was learned recently that Mr. Wang Jinyu and Mr. Ji Mingming from Kharchin were taken to the No.4 Prison of Chifeng City at the end of December 2021.
5. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Four Practitioners Arrested
Twelve police officers in the Beidaihe District arrested four practitioners in the Xinxing Residential Community, the Baolihai Park Community, and other locations in recent days. They were practitioner Liu, practitioner Shi, practitioner Sun, and practitioner Zhao. Shi is currently quarantined in the police hospital; the others have been released.
6. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Jian Chunlan Arrested
Ms. Jian Chunlan realized someone was trying to open the lock on her door from outside around 7:30 a.m. on April 26, 2022. When she shouted, the person stopped. A woman in the group claimed they were from the property management office and told her to let them in. When Ms. Jian said she was lying, a man said that they were police officers. He warned Ms. Jian that if she didn’t open up, they would force their way in. Ms. Jian had no choice but to open the door.
Three people came in. One of them videotaped her place with a body camera. Another man in plainclothes came in later. They searched her home without showing a search warrant and confiscated two laptops, one printer, two packages of printing paper, a Falun Gong book, and wall posters. Ms. Jian was taken to the Tongdonglu Police Station. When being questioned about the name of another practitioner who was detained in another room, she refused to answer. Ms. Jian was bailed out at 6 p.m.
7. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Nie Yan Arrested
Ms. Nie Yan was arrested by officers from the Zhengyangjie Police Station in the Luyuan District on the morning of May 26, 2022, for talking to people about Falun Gong. Her home was ransacked at 1 p.m. and she was released at 9 p.m.
8. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Five Practitioners Detained
Five practitioners were recently arrested and detained. They are Ms. Xu Jirong, Mr. Tian Shujun, Mr. Gao Xingtai, Mr. Guo Hongshan, and Ms. Xue Lihua.
9. [Benxi City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Deng Yulin’s and Ms. Zhang Limin’s Appeals Rejected
After the Benxi City Intermediate Court dismissed their appeals, Ms. Deng Yulin and Ms. Zhang Limin appealed to the Liaoning Province Supreme Court. The Supreme Court dismissed their appeals again.
10. [Qinhuangdao City, Hebei Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Three practitioners from Yuguan—Ms. Du Lijuan, Ms. Chen Xiuling, and Ms. Yang Shuxian—were reported to the police for clarifying the truth at the Yuguan Market and were arrested by Ji Qiang and other officers. Their homes were ransacked. The practitioners were taken to the police station, interrogated, and released around midnight.
11. [Dongying City, Shandong Province] Ms. Meng Yu Stands Trial
Ms. Meng Yu was tried for the second time in the Dongying District Court on May 7, 2022. When she was defending herself, the judge stopped her four or five times. Ms. Meng’s husband was not allowed to attend the hearing, nor were her two coworkers. Her lawyer tried twice to see Ms. Meng before the trial but was never allowed to because, he was told, of the ongoing pandemic.
12. [Kunming City, Yunnan Province] Ms. Liu Yi and Ms. Liu Shuang Arrested.
Ms. Liu Yi and her sister Ms. Liu Shuang from the Wuhua District were arrested by officers from the Liangyuan Police Station on May 24, 2022. Their homes were ransacked.
13. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] 75-year-old Zhao Shanying Released from Prison
Zhao Shanying (gender unknown), 75, was released from prison.
14. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Nearly 80-year-old Ms. Zhen Mingfeng Arrested
Ms. Zhen Mingfeng was tricked into opening her door for officers from the Jianqiao Police Station on the morning of April 27, 2022. They claimed they were there to test her for COVID. They searched her home and confiscated posters, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and several Falun Gong books. Ms. Zhen was taken to the police station and interrogated. She refused to cooperate and was released that evening.
15. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Police Department Director Sun Bo Continues to Be Actively Involved in Directing the Persecution
Sun Bo is the deputy director of the Qiqihar Police Department and has been actively involved in the persecution of Falun Gong for the past 20 years. He was in charge of Mr. Li Huimin, Ms. Cheng Yulan, and Mr. Li Jiqiu’s cases. On Sun Bo’s orders they and other practitioners were tortured to death.
Mr. Li Jiqiu was brutally tortured for a long time. He was arrested and sentenced in 2004 and tortured in Tailan Prison in Fularji. As a result of his injuries, he became critically ill. He was often harassed by the police after he was released. As a result of this continued harassment, he had to leave home and his health deteriorated. He passed away on December 9, 2012.
16. [Linqing City, Shandong Province] Ms. Gao Shuzhen Harassed
Ms. Gao Shuzhen from Tangyuan Town was harassed by the police on May 13, 2022. Her laptop was confiscated.
17. [Anshan City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Sun Lihua Tried
Ms. Sun Lihua was tried in Lishan Court on May 26, 2022. The trial was adjourned due to insufficient evidence.
