(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 16 cities or counties in 9 provinces, where at least 21 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.

1. [Changchun City, Jilin Province] Ms. Yu Hua Sentenced to Three Years and Six Months in Prison
Ms. Yu Hua was arrested by officers from the Yihe Road Police Station on December 2, 2020, for distributing truth clarifying materials. After she was held for 10 days in the Weizigou Detention House, she was transferred to the No. 4 Detention Center on the morning of December 12, 2020. She has been detained there since then.
Ms. Yu was sentenced to three years and six months and fined 10,000 yuan on December 13, 2021. She appealed to the Changchun Intermediate Court but the original verdict was upheld on June 12, 2022.
2. [Jilin City, Jilin Province] Ms. Zhang Hongjie Sentenced to One Year in Prison
Ms. Zhang Hongjie went to a practitioner’s home around 5 p.m. on June 6, 2021, and was caught by police officers who were monitoring nearby. After Ms. Zhang refused to slander the founder of Falun Gong, she was arrested and taken to the Beishan Police Station. She refused to cooperate. She was beaten after she tried to leave the police station. Her home was ransacked that night. The police confiscated several Falun Gong books, a photo of Falun Gong’s founder, and more than 80 amulets and bracelets.
Ms. Zhang was taken to the Songjiang Detention Center on June 7. She was later sentenced to one year in prison. She was handcuffed and shackled during the court hearing.
3. [Fuzhou City, Fujian Province] Ms. Chen Xue and Ms. Huang Bixian Arrested
Ms. Chen Xue and Ms. Huang Bixian were placed under official arrest by the Gulou District Procuratorate a few days ago. They were arrested about 20 days ago and have been detained in the Minqing Detention Center.
4. [Yanshan County, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Baoqun Arrested
Ms. Liu Baoqun was reported to police by a village official for talking to people about Falun Gong in the Dafuzhuang Market. She was arrested by officers from the Xiaoying Township Police Station around 9 a.m. on July 8, 2022. Her home was ransacked that afternoon. The police confiscated a photo of Falun Gong’s founder and all her Falun Gong books. Ms. Liu was released around 9 p.m. that day.
5. [Suining City, Sichuan Province] Mr. Zheng Shude Faces Trial
Mr. Zheng Shude was scheduled to be tried in court on July 14, 2022.
6. [Zhangjiakou City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhu Shanrong Arrested
Ms. Zhu Shanrong was reading Zhuan Falun with another practitioner when two officers from the Chengzhen Police Station in the Xiahuayuan District went to her home on the afternoon of June 29, 2022. The police ransacked her home and confiscated all her Falun Gong books. The two practitioners were taken to the police station for interrogation. They were released later that day. Ms. Zhu tried to get her Falun Gong books back later but failed.
7. [Daye City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wang Dongxiu and Ms. Peng Jizhen Detained in a Brainwashing Center
Ms. Wang Dongxiu, 61, and Ms. Peng Jizhen, 47, were detained in the Xialu District Brainwashing Center in Huangshi City. They were released on June 22, 2022. It was reported that they were abused there.
8. [Daye City, Hubei Province] Ms. Zhu Xixia Harassed
A group of police officers from the Daye City Police Department and the Mingshan Police Station went to Ms. Zhu Xixia’s home on the afternoon of May 6, 2022. Ms. Zhu was not at home. They broke into her home and left a big hole in the wooden door. They claimed they arrested Ms. Zhu, but she left home to avoid further persecution.
9. [Weifang City, Shandong Province] Three Practitioners Arrested
Ms. Liu Sumei, Ms. Liu Sufen, and Ms. Liu Shichun were arrested by officers from the Heng’an Police Station in the Fangzi District on June 24, 2022.
Ms. Liu Sufen and Ms. Liu Shichun have been released but Ms. Liu Sumei is still detained.
10. [Fuping County, Hebei Province] Ms. Han Harassed
Two police officers in Fuping County went to Ms. Han’s home in the Sikou Village on June 17, 2022. They confiscated 44 Falun Gong books, a recorder, a laptop, an exercise tape, a small gourd, and a box of Minghui Weekly magazines. They also tore down a wall poster.
11. [Yantai City, Shandong Province] Ms. Ji Lianying Arrested
Ms. Ji Lianying was reading Zhuan Falun at home when a group of officers from the Xidajie Police Station in the Zhifu District went to her home around 10 a.m. on June 28, 2022. They didn’t show any IDs and began to search and videotape the place. They confiscated two photos of Falun Gong’s founder, two Zhuan Falun, four other Falun Gong books, a cell phone, a media player, a phone book, desk calendars, about 2,000 yuan in paper bills imprinted with Falun Gong facts, and 4,600 yuan in cash. Ms. Ji and her husband were taken to the Xidajie Police Station. Ms. Ji refused to cooperate. Her husband paid 2,000 yuan to bail her out. She was released on bail pending trial around 6:30 p.m. that day.
12. [Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province] Ms. Yu Guimin Arrested
Ms. Yu Guimin was reported to police for talking to two students about Falun Gong in the Anju Community in the Fulaerji District. She was arrested by two officers from the Hong’an Police Station on June 30, 2022. Her current whereabouts are unknown.
13. [Kunshan City, Jiangsu Province] Mr. Zou Feiyu Arrested and Detained
Mr. Zou Feiyu, 48, lives in the Teachers New Village in Chengbei Town. He has been arrested and detained many times. He was arrested again by 16 police officers on July 7, 2022. His home was ransacked. His Falun Gong materials, USB drives, and computer were confiscated. He has been detained since then.
14. [Songyuan City, Jilin Province] Ms. Li Zhiying Arrested
Ms. Li Zhiying from Jubaoshan Town of Changling County was arrested at home by officers from the Changling County Domestic Security Division of the Police Department on July 6, 2022.
15. [Pengzhou City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Chen Dingrong and Ms. Wang Ershi Harassed
Ms. Chen Dingrong was harassed at home around 6:15 a.m. on July 5, 2022. Ji Huitian, director of the Zhihe Town Stability Office, and four officers from the Guangmin Road Police Station went to her home. They searched around but didn’t find anything related to Falun Gong. They took Ms. Chen with them and went to Ms. Wang Ershi’s workplace. Ms. Chen and Ms. Wang were taken to the Pengzhou City “Care Center” (a brainwashing center) and pressured the practitioners to sign a guarantee statement, which they refused. They were held there until 2 p.m.
16. [Tianjin] Ms. An Chunyun’s Lawsuit Dismissed
Ms. An Chunyun from the Binhai New District sued the Dagan Branch of the Tianjin Social Security Bureau and requested she be reimbursed her pension that was deducted. The first hearing was held on June 28, 2022, in the Binhai New District Court. The case was dismissed.
17. [Hefei City, Anhui Province] Ms. Xu Shengying Harassed
Ms. Xu Shengying, 72, was harassed by people from the local neighborhood committee on May 12, 2022, and on July 1, 2022.
