(Minghui.org) July 20th, 2022 marks 23 years of the persecution of Falun Gong (also call Falun Dafa), which was launched in 1999. To commemorate those persecuted to death by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP), Falun Gong practitioners from Taitung met at Seaside Park on July 16, 2022, for a candlelight vigil to mourn those who died due to the persecution.

Many tourists were still out at sundown. Falun Dafa practitioners demonstrated the Dafa exercises, and displayed truth-clarification posters. Many stopped to read the posters, and others took pictures of practitioners doing the exercises.

Mr. Liao began learning the exercise movements on the side, while watching practitioners. He said, “My daughter likes to dance, therefore I enrolled her in the Taiwanese Niao Song High School of the Arts. I think the school’s artistic program and moral education are very good. My daughter brought me a copy of Zhuan Falun, the main text of Falun Dafa, when she returned home from school.” Mr. Liao was happy to encounter Falun Dafa practitioners at Seaside Park.

At nightfall, practitioners sat facing the Pacific Ocean for a candlelight vigil to mourn their fellow practitioners persecuted to death in China. A light rain started to fall and it almost seemed as if Heaven and Earth were weeping for those practitioners who died as a result of the persecution. A local resident watched practitioners, while sitting afar. He stayed until the candlelight vigil ended.

Mr. Ye, organizer of the event, stated, “We would like to awaken people’s conscience and compassion, and also help them realize the evil nature of the CCP. We hope that by collecting signature for the petition, the persecution will end soon.”

Mr. Ye continued, “Every candle light represents hope and contains memories of those who died. The candles also spreads the message, ‘Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good, Falun Dafa is good.’ It connects life with Heaven and Earth while waiting for a new future.”

Raising Awareness of Falun Dafa with Chinese Tourists

Ms. Hsuen Tsing (right), a Falun Dafa practitioner said, “Falun Dafa practitioners in China are to be admired. I hope the persecution ends soon.”

Ms. Hsuen Tsing, a Falun Dafa practitioner who persists in clarifying the truth to people in the political and legal systems in China said, “Falun Dafa practitioners in China expose the evil deeds by uploading contact information of CCP members who harm Falun Dafa on the Minghui website. Practitioners outside of China use this contact information to make phone calls, in the hope that these individuals will understand, and reform.”

“We would tell these people that their acts have already been made known internationally. In addition, we also tell them the truth about Falun Dafa and the fact that good will be rewarded and evil will be punished.” Ms. Hsuen Tsing said that these phone calls have awakened the conscience of many of these people. Many CCP members are now afraid to commit bad deeds, while some have turned over a new leaf and protect Falun Dafa practitioners.

“Many Party members in the judicial systems have learned to think independently, and no longer blindly obey the commands of the CCP. They have chosen a better future for themselves. Many police officers have also protected practitioners in different ways. For example, they call practitioners and tell them to stay safe. They also tell those who reported Falun Dafa practitioners that no one has time to arrest practitioners, or they pretend to take trips elsewhere.”

Practitioners who attended the activity hoped that more locals could learn the truth about Falun Dafa and chose a better future for themselves.
