(Minghui.org) A Suzhou City, Jiangsu Province, resident is in critical condition after developing stomach cancer while illegally incarcerated for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Shen Yinglan, also known as Shen Yunlan, was arrested in April 2018 along with another practitioner, Ms. Xu Yafen. They were tried by the Zhangjiagang City Court on June 14, 2019, and were both sentenced on October 9 to three-year prison terms with 3,000-yuan fines.
Both women appealed to the Suzhou City Intermediate Court, which announced to uphold their original verdicts on April 8, 2020. The decision notices they received were dated January 14, 2020. It’s not clear why the higher court waited three months to announce the ruling.
Ms. Shen was taken to the Liyang Prison in August 2020. She was diagnosed with stomach cancer in early 2022. When the doctor operated on her, he found that the cancer had metastasized to her abdomen.
Ms. Shen is now unable to eat and is in critical condition. Her family is calling on the international community to assist in helping to rescue her.
