(Minghui.org) Over 20 practitioners in our town were arrested in January 2022. Eight of them are still detained.
Set for midnight, the arrests were well coordinated by the police, who had monitored all the practitioners’ cellphones. Some of the practitioners worked at material production sites and had used the cell phones to call each other. The police noticed that others had used WeChat (a social media platform) or browsed overseas websites.
An insider revealed that, back on July 2, 2021, the municipal police department made detailed plans to monitor the practitioners after discovering that one of them was buying large quantities of office supplies on a regular basis. The police also found out that this practitioner was using a family member’s cellphone to place orders with the supplier. He, however, never picked up the supplies himself.
When other practitioners called him, not knowing his phone was tapped, the police started to monitor them as well. When the newly monitored practitioners got in touch with other practitioners, the latter got monitored as well. The police were thereby able to track down many more practitioners and finally arrested them all six months later.
As far as I know, many of the arrested practitioners talked about anything and everything over the phone. They believed that, as long as they had righteous thoughts, they would be fine.
According to the insider, someone asked the police if they had gotten any tips that led to the arrest of so many practitioners. The police replied, “Who reported them? No one. It was all from their cellphones. They didn’t pay attention to their cellphone security.”

I believe the attachment to cell phones reflects many other attachments behind it. Of course, there are other reasons that led to the arrests. But we should really take cellphone security seriously.
Don’t ever think we can avoid having our phones tapped. Even if we use our family members’ cell phones, the police can still monitor them. The communist regime spies on everything. If we don’t pay attention to cellphone security, it’s the same as if we didn’t listen to Master and failed to reach the Fa’s requirements. I hope we can all take it seriously and not give the evil any more excuses to persecute us.
