(Minghui.org) A Qishan County, Shaanxi Province resident was arrested four years ago for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been targeted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. Mr. Zheng Shijian’s family has been kept in the dark about his whereabouts and status. As the forced organ harvesting crime against the practitioners is still going on, they are very worried about his safety.
Mr. Zheng, 60, used to work at a reservoir management office. In the early years of the persecution, he once went to Beijing to appeal for the right to practice Falun Gong. The authorities gave him an unknown term at the Zaozihe Forced Labor Camp after taking him back to Qishan.
Mr. Zheng was arrested again around January 2001 and held at a brainwashing center for 45 days. He was later sentenced to 3.5 years in prison. The authorities attempted to take him to the local brainwashing center after he was released, but he escaped and was forced into displacement. He stayed in Shanghai and Xinjiang at different times and once survived on leftovers from restaurants. His wife divorced him as a result of the persecution.
Mr. Zheng’s latest arrest was on April 7, 2018 in Xi’an City, the capital of Shaanxi, by officers of the Weiqu Police Station. His son and daughter have not heard from him since or received any information about him from the authorities.
