(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Qingrong, 73, was sentenced to five years in prison for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline also known as Falun Dafa that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999. She was admitted to the No. 4 Ward in Liaoning No. 2 Women’s Prison at the end of 2021.
Ms. Wang has remained steadfast in her faith no matter how the guards torture her and yet she still tries to persuade them not to participate in the persecution.
Forced Labor
Ms. Wang was assigned to the team led by head inmate Sun Shanshan. Sun followed the guards’ orders to set unreasonably high production quotas. She constantly insulted and punished those who failed to finish on time. She was especially ruthless when it came to steadfast Falun Gong practitioners.
Starting on January 1, 2022, Ms. Wang and another practitioner were not allowed to brush their teeth or take showers because they refused to renounce Falun Gong.
Freezing and Beating
Sun Shanshan also instigated other inmates to torture Ms. Wang and the other practitioner mentioned above. They berated the two practitioners, hit them on the head and chest, and made them cold.

It is very cold in Liaoning in the wintertime, and Ms. Wang and the other practitioner were only allowed to wear one layer of clothing—the thin prison uniform. They were often forced to stand barefooted on the cement floor by open windows.
When it is really cold, dripping water quickly turns into ice. The inmates still shiver even in thick jackets. But they took off Ms. Wang’s clothes, soaked them in cold water, and then put it back on her. Ms. Wang developed severe frostbite and her wounds bled. Ms. Wang was also forced to stand outside on snowy days until the snow piled up on her body.
Many inmates condemned the guards for torturing Ms. Wang. The torture finally stopped in the middle of February 2022.
