(Minghui.org) Today's news from China includes incidents of persecution that took place in 5 cities or counties in 5 provinces, where at least 11 practitioners were recently persecuted for their belief.
1. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bian Aina Imprisoned for Suing Former CCP Head
2. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Shulian Dies Due to Harassment
3. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Jia Pizhen Arrested

1. [Yingkou City, Liaoning Province] Ms. Bian Aina Imprisoned for Suing Former CCP Head
Ms. Bian Aina from Bayuquan District was arrested in 2015 after she sued former CCP head Jiang Zemin, for initiating the persecution of Falun Gong. She was sentenced to seven and a half years in prison and was detained in the No. 10 Ward of the Liaoning Province Women’s Prison.
Ms. Bian has not been allowed to see or call her family members for two years because she has refused to renounce Falun Gong. The prison has also recently been using the COVID pandemic as an excuse to not allow her to see her family. She will be released on February 9, 2023.
2. [Chengde City, Hebei Province] Ms. Zhang Shulian Dies Due to Harassment
Ms. Zhang Shulian, 73, lived in Xi’achao Township, Longhua County. She was arrested in 2022 for distributing information about Falun Gong and was later sentenced to three years in prison. The sentence was to be served outside of prison due to her health condition. Surveillance cameras were installed in her home and her family members were told to cooperate with police and monitor her. Ms. Zhang was ordered to go to the local judicial office to be brainwashed once a month and to undergo a medical exam in the hospital every three months. Ms. Zhang passed away in December 2022.
3. [Datong City, Shanxi Province] Ms. Jia Pizhen Arrested
Ms. Jia Pizhen lives in Xinping Village, Tianzhen County. Several officers from the Railway Police Station in Hai’an County went to Ms. Jia Pizhen’s home on September 5, 2022, where they ransacked her home and confiscated more than 40 Falun Gong books, media players, and USB drives. Ms. Jia was taken to the police station for interrogation. She did not cooperate with the police, and was released later that day.
4. [Nanchong City, Sichuan Province] Case Against Ms. Cao Yunqing Submitted to the Procuratorate
Twelve officers from the Jialing District Police Department went to Ms. Cao Yunqing’s home at 10 a.m. on September 21, 2022. They ransacked her home and took her to the Huafeng Detention Center. She was released on September 28, 2022.
Ms. Cao was told to go to the Jialing District Procuratorate at 9 a.m. on January 3, 2023.
5. [Huailai County, Hebei Province] Seven Practitioners Harassed
Six practitioners, including Ms. Wang Yanjun, Mei Niushan, Ms. Li Changzhi, Ms. Chen Huimin, Ms. Li Yucui, and Ms. Xu Yuhua, visited Jia Baorong, who didn’t feel well, at her home in Xiaoying Village of Dahuangzhuang Township on September 16, 2022. Police officers came at 2 p.m. and photographed the practitioners.
Ms. Wang Yanjun was taken to the Dahuangzhuang Brainwashing Center later that day. She had symptoms of high blood pressure and was allowed to go home after her daughter was pressured to sign a guarantee statement promising that her mother would not go to Beijing.
Two officers went to Li Changzhi’s home and Mei Niushan’s home that evening. The next day, they went to harass Chen Huimin, Ms. Li Yucui, and Ms. Xu Yuhua.
Xu Jun from Huangjiazhong Village, Beixinbao Township was harassed at home by police officer Xiao Gan and village security personnel Lu Zhanbin around October 1, 2022. They photographed Xu Jun.
