(Minghui.org) It’s natural that people want a good life, but some seek personal gain at the expense of others. It is especially the case during the Chinese Communist Party’s ongoing persecution of Falun Gong, a peaceful meditation system based on the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. By persecuting Falun Gong practitioners, however, those perpetrators risk losing their good fortune or even their lives.
Wang Jizhong, former director of the Laoting County 610 Office in Hebei Province, often persecuted innocent Falun Gong practitioners for his own benefit. When practitioners urged him to stop participating in the persecution, Wang dismissed them with, “I don’t believe in retribution. Look what a happy life I have.” His father-in-law supported him and threatened to “arrest all Falun Gong practitioners with no one left.” Not long after that, Wang was killed in a car accident, his wife’s brother died of liver disease, and his father-in-law died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Cause and Effect
Anhui Province Women’s Prison is a notorious place where Falun Gong practitioners are detained and tortured for their faith in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. Ms. Zhu Weiying, former general manager of Meishan Restaurant, suffered various forms of torture, including electric shocks and drugging, which led to her blindness and eventual death. Ms. Wang Lu, Chief Nurse of the Bengbu Third Hospital, was savagely beaten in the Fourth Ward and became deaf as a result. Zhang Hui, political head of the Fourth Ward, however, received numerous awards, including a national prize from the Justice Ministry in 2019. Two years later, Zhang died of cancer at age 49 in January 2022.
Gong Dao’an was the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Party Secretary of the Xianning Police Department as well as the Political and Legal Affairs Committee (PLAC) in Hubei Province between 2007 and 2010. During his tenure, five Falun Gong practitioners died as a result of the persecution and many more were sentenced. After Gong was promoted to Shanghai Party Secretary in 2017, 560 Shanghai practitioners were harassed, with nine of them sent to brainwashing centers. Gong was investigated for corruption in August 2020 and received a life sentence in September 2022.
Even top CCP officials are not spared. Zhou Yongkang was the Sichuan Province Party Secretary (2000 – 2002), Minister of Public Security (2002 – 2007), and Party Secretary of the Central PLAC (2007 – 2012). Countless tragedies happened to Falun Gong practitioners during his tenure, including the atrocity of forced organ harvesting. In 2013, Zhou was investigated for corruption and later sentenced to a life term.
Li Daming, Director of the Babaishang Police Department in Heilongjiang Province, once threatened practitioners, “If you dare to say you’ll continue practicing Falun Gong, I will throw you into jail.” In addition to arresting and detaining practitioners, Li restrained practitioners in metal chairs, poured ice water on them in freezing cold weather, forced them to wear masks smeared with mustard or hot pepper oil, suffocated them with plastic bags, and deprived them of sleep. Li’s car ran into a funeral hearse in September 2008 and he died on the spot.
Even family members could be affected by the wrongdoing of perpetrators. Shi Jicang, Director of the Xushui County Detention Center in Hebei Province, often instructed his subordinates to arrest practitioners and threaten their family members. His grandson died of lymphoma in 2001, he himself died of a cerebral hemorrhage in 2003, his wife was killed by lung cancer in 2004, and his son lost his life to uremia in 2005.
Fate Reversed with Wrongdoing Corrected
Despite the 23-year-long harsh persecution, Falun Gong practitioners have never stopped their efforts to tell people what Falun Gong is and urge perpetrators to stop taking part in the suppression. Some perpetrators listened and received blessings.
A resident of Shenyang City, Liaoning Province, caught COVID in 2020. Although the symptoms were severe, he kept reciting the phrases “Falun Dafa is good” and “Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good,” and soon recovered.
Wang Xuenong, a farmer in the countryside, helped practitioners protect many Dafa books after the persecution started in July 1999. Some of his relatives were worried, but he was not concerned about being targeted by authorities. His family has been healthy and prosperous. His son, only in his late 30s, earned nearly one million yuan per year.
Yang, Deputy Squadron Leader of a labor camp, learned the facts about Falun Gong from detained practitioners in 2001. He then tried his best to protect the practitioners detained in the facility. In the end, he was promoted and left this facility.
Such blessings can also extend to family members. A police officer in Shanghai had a young son who became severely ill. She and her husband sought medical treatment everywhere, but nothing could help their son. Later on, someone reminded her of her previous wrongdoings against Falun Gong practitioners. She visited practitioners one by one to repent of her wrongdoings while offering compensation. Before she finished visiting all of them, her son recovered.
Once another police officer arrested a Falun Gong practitioner. The practitioner explained to him that practicing Falun Gong was a basic right guaranteed by the Constitution and that persecuting practitioners would not do anyone any good.
Not long after that, the officer had leg pain that could not be cured even after visiting many doctors. In the end, he went to a fortune teller for help. “You must have offended the divine,” said the fortune teller.
The police officer realized he should not have arrested that Falun Gong practitioner who was simply following the principles of Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance to become a better person. He used his connections and got that practitioner released.
Soon after that, the officer’s leg pain stopped.
