(Minghui.org) Since the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) took power in China in 1949, it systematically destroyed traditional values and brought unimaginable tragedy to the Chinese nation. Through the following stories of my family, one can get a glimpse of the evilness of the system.

My father was persecuted to death by the CCP during the Cultural Revolution at the age of 37, simply because he was born in a landlord’s family. My father did a lot of good deeds. He responded to almost every request for disaster relief and had a good reputation in the area. At that time, farmers were being blackmailed severely by the government, but when my father was in charge, he never did such things. My father was missed. When there was a disaster and nowhere to get help, people would say, it would be nice if your father was still here.

In order to stay in power and buy people’s hearts, the CCP “vindicated” my father in 1977. My family was finally allowed to move back to the city from the countryside. My older sister and brother soon found jobs. My mother was trying to use her connections to find a job for me but had not heard back from the human resources department.

When my mother went to follow up with the human resource department in the autumn of 1977, she was told, “Your daughter has been working here for several months. What else do you want?” My mother was stunned. It turned out that a Party committee secretary arranged for his mistress to work using my identity. My mother eventually found the imposter.

The woman Qing (alias), around 19, was four years younger than me. She invited my mother to her home. She knelt down in front of my mother and in tears told of her family’s tragic experience. Her family were farmers. When she was less than 10 years old, her father died. Her mother was less than 30 years old at the time and was an attractive lady. The local Party Committee secretary forced her mother to live with him. After Qing grew up, she also became a beautiful young lady. At 16, she was raped by the Party secretary and gave birth to a daughter.

The Party secretary later made arrangements to have Qing work using my identity. He moved in with Qing and her mother and became the director of the township sports committee. He then began to rape many of the teenage female athletes. The girls’ parents jointly filed a petition and the man absconded. Qing was still able to keep “my” job, and was worried she would lose it if my mother sued her and that would mean a dead end for her family.

My mother relented, and with tears, she left without saying a word. She also didn’t tell us, fearing that I would go to Qing to get my job back.

Not knowing about it, I took the college entrance exam at the end of that year and was admitted to a great university in the province. Only then, did my mother tell me about Qing’s situation. She felt sorry for me, but she couldn’t bear to sue Qing. If I had a job at that time, I would have felt more responsible for earning money to support my family because I had four younger siblings.

But my college admission turned out to be a good thing for my family. Inspired by my experience, my younger siblings all began to take study seriously and they all received a higher education. Now my family members are doctors, teachers, or government officials. I believe we received blessings for my mother’s kindness.

Speaking of blessing for one’s kindness, my brother’s story is another example, which led me to think that no matter how corrupt and degenerated society is, we still have the choice to be kind.

My brother worked as a salesman in a community supply and marketing cooperative. In the 1970s and 1980s when supplies were extremely scarce, a salesperson was considered a good job. In 1980, the daughter of my father’s old subordinate got a job at a forestry farm as a ranger. It was too hard for a 20-year-old woman to do this job. It’s quite physically demanding and it was also dangerous as there were wolves and wild dogs in the forest, as well as the possibility of encountering bad people. Her mother had to stay with her for fear of her safety.

In desperation, this young lady’s parents begged my brother to exchange jobs with her. Although it was an excessive request, my mother was kind-hearted and wanted him to accept the request. My brother was also kind and agreed.

Since then, my brother carried a sickle for protection in the forest every day. He had to walk several miles to work. He was threatened with violence several times by illegal logging personnel, and once was almost injured. My mother asked someone to help transfer my brother’s job to another farm so that he no longer had to work in that forest. My brother retired from the state-owned farm at the age of 60. Now his pension has increased to more than 5,000 yuan.
