(Minghui.org) Ms. Wang Ruiling, 71, from Tangshan City, Hebei Province has been denied family visits since she stood trial in December 2019 for practicing Falun Gong, a spiritual discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Ms. Wang was arrested on July 6, 2019 and tried in court six months later. She was sentenced to eight years and sent to the Shijiazhuang Women’s Prison on April 15, 2021. She was initially held in Division 14 but was later moved to Division 13.
According to insiders, the prison guards beat Ms. Wang three times a day and the floor of her cell was covered in blood splatters. They beat her head against the wall and poured cold water over her. When she refused to open her mouth to be force fed an unknown drug, they pried it open, and in the process knocked out some of her teeth.
Despite the brutal torture, Ms. Wang refused to “transform” (to renounce her faith). In retaliation the prison did not allow her family to visit her. Her family made numerous requests to see her but were always told that, “No transformation, no visits.”
Part of Group Arrest and Sentencing
Ms. Wang was seized in a group arrest at 3 a.m. on July 6, 2019. Her husband, Mr. Ma Kuo, was also arrested for practicing Falun Gong. The couple’s four laptops, printer, and an unknown amount of cash were confiscated. Their car was also impounded.
More than three hundred police officers were mobilized for the group arrest.
Among the 19 practitioners arrested, 12 were later indicted. They stood trial on December 17, 19, and 23, 2019 before being convicted (it’s unclear whether the hearing spanned three days or they were tried separately in three groups). Ms. Wang’s family was not allowed to see her since her court hearing.
Ms. Wang was given the longest term of eight years and fined 10,000 yuan. Her husband, Mr. Ma, 70, was sentenced to five years and fined 5,000 yuan. The other ten practitioners were sentenced to 2-7 years:
Mr. Zhang Yuming was sentenced to seven years and fined 6,000 yuan.Mr. Wang Jian was sentenced to seven years and fined 5,000 yuan.Ms. Tian Shuxue was sentenced to five years and six months and fined 6,000 yuan.Ms. Sheng Jinling was sentenced to four years and ten months and fined 4,500 yuan.Ms. Lin Xiuzhen was sentenced to four years and ten months and fined 4,000 yuan.Ms. Zhang Qin was sentenced to four years and six months and fined 5,000 yuan.Ms. Guo Shuhuan was sentenced to three years and ten months and fined 3,500 yuan.Ms. Lu Cuihua was sentenced to three years and two months and fined 3,000 yuan.Ms. Gao Jingru was sentenced to three years and fined 3,000 yuan.Mr. Wang Kun was sentenced to two years and fined 2,000 yuan.
