(Minghui.org) A Falun Dafa practitioner has a sacred and undeniable duty to clarify the truth to people during the Fa-rectification period. I’ve been cultivating for over 20 years, but I only went out to talk to people a few times. My attachment of fear and saving face interfered with me, so I helped just a few people quit the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its youth organizations. It wasn’t until last July that I began to make a breakthrough. After going out to talk to people about Falun Dafa with a fellow practitioner, I finally learned how to approach people.
My True Desire to Save People
Last summer, I promised another practitioner that I would go out to talk to people about Dafa with them. Before the summer break began, a neighboring city was locked down, but I thought the pandemic wouldn’t affect our city. However, we later heard the virus was spreading in our area. I started to panic and became afraid that we would go on lockdown and be unable to help Master Li (Falun Dafa’s founder) save people. I was also worried that we wouldn’t have any materials to hand out. This made me realize the urgency of saving people. I then decided to give up my attachment to shopping and buying new clothes. I needed to go out and clarify the truth!
When I woke up the next day, I was thankful that our city was not under lockdown. I immediately contacted a fellow practitioner and felt light-hearted as I walked to our meeting place.
There were very few people on the street due to the pandemic. I met a middle-aged man at a bus stop and asked if he knew when the bus would come. He told me that it had just left. I talked with him as I waited for the next bus. I asked if he was a Party member and told him about the importance of quitting the CCP. I offered to give him a pseudonym to quit. My bus arrived, so I quickly told him to remember the nine auspicious words, “Falun Dafa is good! Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance is good!” He nodded in agreement.
Master was encouraging me through this incident, as I did not realize that I would meet anyone with a predestined relationship.
I met up with the practitioner and clarified the truth to people as we walked around the area. We encouraged each other and helped 20 people quit the CCP in two hours. This was our first time working together. We had pure intentions, so the majority of people we met were very willing to quit the Party and were appreciative that we stopped to talk to them. There were times when things did not go smoothly, but we did not give up. Our intentions touched people’s hearts, and the situation improved.
We passed by a florist and decided to talk to the owner. She saw us staring in through the window for some time, so she was suspicious when we walked into the shop. The owner’s tone was hostile, “What do you want?” We both tried to find a way to initiate a conversation. My companion was more determined and did her best to clarify the truth from different angles. But the owner seemed indifferent, so we did not ask her to quit the Party.
Thinking from the owner’s perspective, her business was almost nonexistent. Then two people walk in, do not purchase anything, and all they want is for her to quit the CCP. It was reasonable for her to be unhappy with us, so we decided to go back to buy a bouquet.
The owner was delighted when we told her we were going to buy something. I then casually struck up a conversation and explained the truth about Dafa and why she should quit the CCP. She agreed to quit using a pseudonym. The owner’s child was nearby studying, so I wanted both of them to quit the CCP’s youth organizations. The owner wanted to stop me, but I convinced her that this was beneficial for the child. She smiled and did not interfere.
After walking out of the shop, we were very grateful because our sincere intention to save sentient beings was felt by the people we were saving.
Eliminating Negative Thoughts
I realized I had many negative thoughts while working with the other practitioner. My starting point was selfish. I was afraid that if I didn’t clarify the truth properly, I would not progress in cultivation, nor fulfill my vows and be allowed to return to my true home. But after memorizing Hong Yin VI, I understood that all people were once divine beings, and every one of them must be cherished. They came to this world waiting for Dafa practitioners to wake them up! So I cherish every one of them and show them their way home.
Right before meeting someone, I ask Master to help me save this person. The results are then generally good. However, when I was fearful and filled with human notions, I couldn’t truly save them because I couldn’t eliminate the old forces interference. Even if people were frustrated and didn’t understand my intentions, I learned not to be affected by their emotions, wished them well, and hoped that they would quit the Party the next time they met a practitioner.
I discovered the reason I couldn’t make a breakthrough was due to my negative thoughts. I would feel satisfied after helping a few people quit the CCP, as if I had completed my mission for the day. I would then hear a voice tell me, “Quit while you’re ahead,” as if I would have a lot of fear and stress if I did more than necessary.
I never took notice of the interference from my negative thoughts and had the notion the voice was wise. After all, “I was doing my best and not overwhelming myself.” However, I did not dig down to the root cause of this mentality and failed to realize this was the old forces imposing those thoughts upon me. They do not want us to clarify the truth and save people. I went along with this interference and believed these thoughts were mine. I did not see clarifying the truth as the most magnificent thing but only saw it as a task to accomplish.
Another negative thought was that “If I did not overcome a xinxing test, then there was no point in clarifying the truth that day.” Even if I went outside to talk to people, I would not be confident or produce positive results. This is an old force’s trick to make Dafa practitioners think we have not cultivated well and prevent us from saving more people.
Everyone’s level is different, so we cannot make excuses for our human attachments and not go out to save people. Each Dafa practitioner corresponds to a large expanse of the cosmos and is responsible for saving the sentient beings in that area.
Breaking Through My Human Notions
I was restricted by all sorts of human attachments when clarifying the truth. I believed that I could not talk to more than two people at a time. My excuse was that I had not cultivated well enough and only wanted to talk to people individually. Due to my attachments, I have missed many opportunities to clarify the truth. I was not able to let go of this, even though I knew those were human notions.
The day after we discussed this issue during Fa study, a practitioner and I traveled to a faraway place and saw a group of students chatting. As we walked toward them, I wondered if we would be able to get their attention because there were so many of them. My companion initiated the conversation. They were talking about what kind of gift they should buy their teacher. After complimenting the students for their manners, the practitioner changed the topic and spoke about Dafa and quitting the Party. The teenagers listened attentively, and all of them quit the CCP’s organizations using their real names. It was Master that led them there so they could hear the truth!
When we improve our understanding of the Fa, eliminate human notions, and focus on saving people, the results will be quite surprising. Master helps us eliminate our attachments and elevate our levels. The purpose is to help practitioners succeed in cultivation.
