(Minghui.org) “Falun Gong practitioners who are not yet 'transformed' when they come here will be mentally disordered when they leave. They [prison authorities] will never allow you to leave here sane unless you renounce your faith.”

The above was said by an inmate in Chengdu Women’s Prison, who participated in persecuting Falun Gong practitioners.

Chengdu Women’s Prison was previously known as Chuanxi Women’s Prison, before being renamed Binjiang Prison and then later renamed Chengdu Women’s Prison in 2006. It’s where female Falun Gong practitioners in Sichuan Province are imprisoned. Practitioners who are incarcerated there are subjected to beatings, electric shocks, handcuffed, tied up, force-fed, given unknown drugs, pricked with needles, slammed against the wall, locked up in solitary confinement, exposed to freezing weather in winter or scorching sun in summer, forced to stand for long hours, have their blood forcibly drawn, and denied their visitation rights.

According to information collected by Minghui.org, at least 21 practitioners have been persecuted to death in this facility since the persecution of Falun Gong started on July 20, 1999. At least 11 became disabled or mentally disordered as a direct result of being tortured.

In January 2019, inmate Yang Chunhua told practitioner Ms. Hu Runlian in the 4th ward that the guard on duty planned to pass an unknown drug to inmate Fu Min. Fu was assigned to deliver meals to Ms. Hu in her cell, because Ms. Hu was not allowed to eat in the cafeteria. Fu would put the pills in a small bottle of water and add the liquid to Ms. Hu’s food. The drug eventually caused Ms. Hu to become mentally disordered.

Another practitioner also saw Fu secretly placing a pill in a small bottle. When Fu realized she was being watched by the practitioner, she quickly hid the bottle.

All the practitioners in the 4th Ward who refuse to renounce Falun Gong are given unknown drugs. The guards claim the practitioners are ill, and then instruct the inmates to dissolve nerve-damaging pills in water and add the liquid to the practitioners’ food. Over time, many practitioners became disoriented and were eventually forced to renounce Falun Gong.

Inmate Liu Wenzhen told a practitioner, “Falun Gong practitioners who are not 'transformed' after coming here will be mentally disordered when they leave. They [prison authorities] will never allow you to leave here sane, unless you renounce your faith.”

In February and March 2019, this practitioner personally witnessed Liu and other inmates placing a pill in a bottle filled with water and then mixing the liquid into the food that was given to practitioner Ms. Peng Shiqiong.

When Ms. Lan Xianghua was admitted to the prison, the captain of the 4th ward said, “In less than six months, her condition will be the same as it was last time.” Ms. Lan was mentally disoriented the last time she was released from Chengdu Women’s Prison. She recovered after she resumed practicing Falun Gong, but she was arrested and sentenced again in less than a year.

Many people saw Liu and other inmates dissolving pills in water and someone asked what they were doing. The inmate pointed at Ms. Lan, and indicated that the drug was for her.

The inmate usually added the drug to Ms. Lan’s water in the morning and then put it in her lunch and dinner. Her food was prepared separately, with the excuse that she was being given more food. Two practitioners reminded Ms. Lan to pay attention to her food on two different occasions, but she didn’t respond. It’s not clear whether the drug was already having an effect on her. Soon after Ms. Lan became disoriented.
