(Minghui.org) A native of Chifeng City, Inner Mongolia is facing prosecution for distributing informational materials about Falun Gong while living in his daughter’s home in Jinan City, Shandong Province.
Falun Gong, also known as Falun Dafa, is a spiritual and meditation discipline that has been persecuted by the Chinese communist regime since 1999.
Officers of the Huaiyin District Domestic Security Office and Jingsanluxi Market Police Station of Jinan knocked on the door of Mr. Wang Yuezhong’s daughter on August 31, 2022, claiming to be checking their COVID-19 test results. Mr. Wang, 64, opened the door, only to see the police barge in and start searching everywhere without presenting their IDs or a search warrant. Mr. Wang’s Falun Gong books, his notes of experiences in practicing Falun Gong, and a large number of personal items were confiscated.
When Mr. Wang’s family went to the police station to inquire about his case, the police told them that a local resident’s doorbell video captured Mr. Wang distributing informational materials about Falun Gong on August 17, 2022.
Mr. Wang said he distributed the materials with the hope that more people could know the facts about Falun Gong and benefit from it as he did. After he took up Falun Gong in May 1996, his severe heart disease with irregular heartbeat, stomach condition, and other medical conditions all disappeared. With the COVID-19 pandemic at its height, Falun Gong, as a mind and body practice, is exactly what people need.
On September 1, 2022, Mr. Wang’s daughter paid 3,000 yuan as his bail bond and he was released on bail.
On August 2, 2023, the police deceived Mr. Wang into going to the police station, with the excuse to close his case. He went there, only to be arrested and taken to the Jinan City Detention Center. The police submitted his case to the Huaiyin District Procuratorate on August 16, 2023. The latter approved his arrest and moved his case to the Changqing District Procuratorate, which is designated to handle Falun Gong cases in Jinan. He is now facing indictment.
