(Minghui.org) When my HP printer stopped working, three practitioners in my area with technical expertise couldn’t fix it after working on it for an entire day. One of the practitioners and I drove to a nearby city to get Mr. Li’s help. Through our short interactions with him, I was impressed by his humility, his expertise, and his faith in Dafa.
Our Technical Skills Are Given to Us by Master
Mr. Li was in his 50s, but he looked at least ten years younger. He welcomed us with a kind smile and started disassembling the printer to examine it. As he did, he explained in detail what he was doing. Within half an hour, he was able to find the problem and fix it.
We praised him for being a printer expert. He said we should thank Master, because Master gave him the wisdom.
Mr. Li told us that he started studying printer technology in 2007, after he was released from prison, where he’d served an unjust term for practicing Dafa. He bought a printer and started learning how to make truth-clarification materials.
As his printer was printing the materials, he studied the Fa next to it. He felt he was one body with the printer. When there were issues with the printer, he did not rush to fix it. Instead, he looked inward first.
He also spent time learning technical tips from other practitioners on Dafa websites. He studied different issues on different models of printers. With all the practice and Master’s strengthening, he acquired a great deal of knowledge and repair skills about many different models of printers.
He told us that he did not study this on his own, and that Master has always been by his side giving him guidance. To become a technical expert, he had to make sure he studied the Fa well. He sometimes worked on a printer for an entire day and still couldn’t figure out the problem. But after he studied the Fa with a calm mind, he might fix it in five minutes. He has fixed countless printers over the past 15 to 16 years.
Take Money and Fame Lightly
Mr. Li often found the printers brought in by practitioners for repair to be very dirty. He bought wet wipes to clean them thoroughly but often wondered why the practitioners were not treating these Fa weapons with respect, because printers are also important beings that play a role in saving sentient beings.
He spent a lot of time cleaning the printers first before attempting to repair them. Sometimes, the problem went away after the printer was cleaned.
He advised practitioners to get on the technical websites and download articles about printer repair and maintenance. He said that when we study it attentively, Master will help us, and only when we understand the printers will we be able to treasure them better.
Mr. Li shared two incidents with us. He once went to a practitioner’s home to repair his printer. After he finished, the practitioner insisted on giving him a gift. As soon as Mr. Li left, he thought of things Master had said:
“Gradually, this person would accept small gifts. Later, he would also accept big gifts. In the end, he would even be offended when he was not given enough. Finally, he would say, “Why do you give me so many things? Give me money!”” (Lecture Three, Zhuan Falun)
“When spreading Dafa and teaching the exercises, no Falun Dafa disciple is allowed to collect a fee or accept any gifts. Anyone who violates this rule is no longer a Falun Dafa disciple.” (Appendix II, The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection)
“Practitioners should not seek fame or profit, but merit and virtue.” (Appendix III, The Great Way of Spiritual Perfection)
Master did not give him the skills to repair printers to pursue money. So he went back and explained to the fellow practitioner that he could not accept the gift because he needed to follow the Fa’s requirements.
Another practitioner who was well-off always treated him and his wife to great meals when he went to repair her printer. So he and his wife decided to always eat first before fixing her printer.
When fellow practitioners made extra effort to cook for him or give him a gift, he could understand their kind intention, but he felt it was sentimentality instead of compassion.
Eliminate an Attachment to Overcome a Tribulation
Mr. Li heard that the Cannon 4500 printer would be discontinued in 2009. The coordinator and he decided to buy several for fellow practitioners because they could get a good deal. After searching and searching, he finally found a seller who claimed to have a few in stock. He was very happy and his showoff mentality surfaced as well. He decided to wire the 5,000 yuan for five printers immediately.
However, three days passed and the printers didn’t show up. When he called again, no one answered. He realized that the seller had deceived him.
He realized his attachments and admitted his mistakes in front of Master’s photo. He also developed further understanding of Master’s teaching:
“In other matters and in the course of cultivation, one should be sure to not develop the attachment of zealotry—this mentality can be very easily taken advantage of by demons.” (Lecture Eight, Zhuan Falun)
During a group sharing, one of the practitioners said she understood that what he did, he did for fellow practitioners. She said she had a relative in that area who understood the truth about Dafa and would try to help resolve the issue.
On his way home, Mr. Li suddenly thought of what Master said:
“For a practitioner, one’s mind-intent dictates supernormal abilities to do things. For an everyday person, one’s mind-intent directs the four limbs and the sensory organs to work...” (Lecture Nine, Zhuan Falun)
He thought that Dafa practitioners should believe in Master and the Fa and ask for Master’s strengthening. The money was a Dafa resource and should be recovered.
A few days later, the relative of the fellow practitioner called and said that he had found the seller and got the money back.
We are thankful for Dafa! We are thankful for Master!
