(Minghui.org) When I was released from a forced labor camp, something unexpected was waiting for me. A young, beautiful woman named Ms. Qing had showed up at our home. My husband said that she was a distant sister of his comrade-in-arms, who lived elsewhere. Her husband had died in a car accident, and the comrade-in-arms had called and asked my husband to take care of Ms. Qing and her daughter.
I thought that, since they had come to my home, it was no accident. I wanted to help them learn about Falun Gong and the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) persecution. I told them that Falun Gong is a spiritual practice that teaches being a good person in accordance with Truthfulness, Compassion, and Forbearance. It is amazing when it comes to curing diseases and keeping fit. I had a lot of health problems that hospitals could not cure. I tried several other schools of qigong, but none were helpful. However, all my ailments were gone shortly after I started to practice Falun Gong. I told them not believe what was on TV as it was all lies. I told them that there will be a great judgment in the future, and many people might die. I also told them that quitting the CCP and its affiliated organizations would keep them safe. Qing quit the CCP and her daughter quit the CCP’s youth organizations.
Qing and her daughter had lunch at our house every weekend. My husband cooked a few dishes and bought two more from a restaurant. He did this every time they came. My family was not well off at the time. The Party had unreasonably withheld my pension for five years because I practiced Falun Gong. My husband’s previous earnings of 200,000 yuan, which had been invested in Beijing, were lost to fraud. He had not been paid his pension for some reason. Seeing Qing, her daughter, and my husband happily eating a sumptuous meal, I felt really uneasy. I thought to myself that this was an adversary from another lifetime who’d come to collect a debt.
Master said,
“Cultivation must take place through tribulations so as to test whether you can part with and care less about different kinds of human qing and desires. If you are attached to these things, you will not succeed in cultivation. Everything has its karmic relationship.” (Lecture Four, Zhuan Falun)
I realized that I had many attachments, such as resentment for my husband and Qing, affection for my husband, a fighting mentality, dislike of others, impatience, and a desire for material things. I didn’t want these attachments and tried to send righteous thoughts to eliminate them.
To make sure Qing and her daughter were taken care of, my husband rented an apartment for them in our neighborhood. Qing didn’t have a job and played mahjong (a Chinese board game) all day long. She was very dependent on my husband. She often came to our house when I was not there, which stirred up rumors in the community. Due to the degradation of human morality, pornography, gambling, and drugs are rampant. I was aware that I was a Dafa disciple who helps Master in the Fa-rectification, and I wanted to “Puts a stop to its downward slide.” (“Illumination All,” Hong Yin II)
I had a chat with Qing. I said, “Do you know what a bad impact you have had on my husband’s reputation? He takes care of you so conscientiously, but do you deserve that? You are only 40s and educated. Don’t play mahjong, Find a job so that you can pay for your daughter’s education. That is the right thing to do.”
A restaurant across the street happened to need a waitress, so I told the owner and asked her to apply. After Qing had worked there for one year, I came across a job listing for a fitness equipment store run by Koreans. She was good at talking to customers, and I thought she would be just right for that position. It also paid well. She held onto that job and paid for her daughter’s education through college. Then her daughter became a primary school teacher.
A few years later, Qing’s daughter and my son fell in love and got engaged. An adversary in the past is now an in-law.
