In 2005, my mother suggested I read the main text of Falun Dafa, Zhuan Falun. At first, I thought it was a book that taught people how to be good. When I read the second lecture, and Master mentioned that the Fa is hard to obtain, I couldn’t help crying because I realized this was no ordinary book. As I continued reading Master cleansed my body. I was fully committed to practicing Falun Dafa.
After I began doing the exercises and following the teachings, my character improved a lot. I’d like to share two examples.
A colleague who often went out for tea during work hours received an excellent evaluation from her manager. My friend felt it was unfair and wanted to complain to her boss. I suggested we just do our jobs well and not criticize anyone.
My friend was upset that I disagreed with her, so she began isolating me and bad-mouthing me to our coworkers. I remembered Master’s teaching and told myself not to confront her about her behavior. I didn’t realize that my silence made her even angrier, until one day, she deliberately raised her voice and said, “See, I am talking about her like this, and she is still indifferent!”
Another time, I helped my coworkers buy some strawberries. When I left the meeting, only one basket of smaller berries was left. One coworker said, “There were some big ones in your basket, but so-and-so replaced them.” I thought of Master’s story about a disciple whose apples were taken by others. I silently thanked Master in my heart. If Master hadn’t taught me the Fa, I wouldn’t have known how to deal with the situation.
Removing Attachments in the Workplace
In 2016, a company hired me as a production manager. I noticed that the team members didn’t trust each other and were reluctant to take on more responsibilities. When problems arose, they shrugged their shoulders and shirked responsibility. I looked down on them, thinking that ordinary people were so attached to fame. I then realized that my thoughts were not compassionate.
I told my team I was not there to blame them but to solve problems and prevent them from recurring. After a few incidents, they began to trust me. I also told them that because I practice Falun Dafa, I wouldn’t shirk responsibilities when things went wrong.
We received a large order, but our production capacity could only supply one-tenth of the order within a given time frame. Even though we couldn’t fulfill the order, our production was running at an unprecedented level. Out of jealousy, a few other managers criticized me at a meeting for being unable to deliver the quantity of goods required. They said it was my team was not capable. My immediate supervisor did not explain the actual situation to them. I was outraged by his lack of involvement. I was also worried that the general manager would think I was incompetent.
My resentment, jealousy, vanity, and ambition all came out. I often worked late into the night, missing time for group Fa study and project meetings. I wasn’t in a good cultivation state and I didn’t see my problems. I felt that the job was too hard and I wanted to quit.
When I thought about Master’s teachings, I realized I was not behaving like a Falun Dafa practitioner. After I let go of my resentment and jealousy, my coworkers stopped attacking me. It turned out that the conflicts were a result of my attachments.
Media Work Saves People
In 2020, the New Tang Dynasty Television (NTD TV) opened an office in my area. The office manager asked me to be a reporter, which I thought was an excellent idea; this was the job I was looking for. In my previous jobs, studying the Fa for an hour a day was hard to achieve, but now I could study the Fa for almost three hours a day—I was overjoyed!
A big truck hit my car when I was driving to meet with a client. My car spun around several times before it stopped. The rear windshield was shattered, the airbags in the back seat had deployed, and the engine wouldn’t start. However, neither I, nor the practitioner in the passenger seat were injured; we knew that Master eliminated a lot of karma for us. This made me even more determined to use the media as a powerful tool to save people.
During a visit with a retired general, he said, “Your TV stations are all saying bad things about China.” He was nearly 70, so I told him about the education program our office had been offering for over two years. When he heard how these activities helped teachers and students, he was touched and said, “Morality is essential!” He wanted to introduce us to the president of his foundation and said, “You are talking about the CCP being bad, not China being bad, right?”
When I attended a press conference and exchanged business cards, the other party was very excited. When he learned practitioners do not take other people’s money and even share the cost of renting a tour bus to attend events, he said it was unbelievable. He initially thought the media was making money to support the founder of Falun Dafa (Li Hongzhi). He understood the truth when I told him that we, in the media, are a government-registered company, just like any other for-profit company.
Master taught us,
“Dafa disciples are the sole hope of salvation for the beings in each region and each nation.” (“My Thanks to Sentient Beings Who Have Sent Greetings,” The Essentials of Diligent Progress III)
When I visited a professor at a national university, he praised the quality of our station’s programs and asked if we were involved in politics. I told him that New Tang Dynasty always insisted on truthful reporting and doing what is right because we are Falun Dafa practitioners who believe in Truthfulness-Compassion-Forbearance. He was touched and offered to show our film to the dean.
The chairman of a listed company said that he watched NTD TV for a long time and understood that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) would not change its destructive nature. He also said that other TV stations couldn’t incorporate the traditional cultural connotations into the children’s cartoons the way we did. He expressed his support for us to produce more programs.
As long as we go in the right direction, Master will guides those predestined to come to us.
Master said,
“Your journey is one where if you can take correct, right steps, the doors before you that were once shut will open and the road will become wide. The journey is the same, whatever project it may be.” (“Fa Teaching Given at the Epoch Times Meeting,” Collected Fa Teachings, Vol. X)
Conclusion
Looking back on my 19 years of cultivation, I believe that if I can always study the Fa and learn it well, I can handle conflicts and difficulties. Now that I’m part of the media, I have more opportunities to tell the truth to ordinary people, so I have to cultivate myself even more diligently and not slack off in saving people.
