1. [Jinan City, Shandong Province] Ms. Liu Yugui Sentenced to Three Years in Prison
Ms. Liu Yugui, 64, from Dongzhuang Village, Guide Town, Changqing District, was arrested by officers from the Guide Town Police Station on July 18, 2022. She returned home the following day. On July 28, Ms. Liu was arrested again and taken to the Jinan City Detention Center, where she has since been held.
On January 3, 2023, Ms. Liu’s family suddenly received a judgment issued by the Changqing District Court that Ms. Liu was sentenced to three years in prison.
2. [Chengdu City, Sichuan Province] Ms. Zeng Fanfeng Sentenced to Five Years in Prison
Ms. Zeng Fanfeng from Group 8, Mamuhe Village, Longfeng Sub-district, Pengzhou City, was sentenced to five years in prison by the Pengzhou City Court on December 22, 2022. Ms. Zeng has requested an appeal and is now facing trial by the second instance court.
Ms. Zeng may be held in the Pi County Detention Center.
3. [Luoyang City, Henan Province] Mr. Li Shihai Faces Trial
Mr. Li Shihai from Pingdu City, Qingdao City, Shandong Province, was scheduled to be tried at 9 a.m. on January 10, 2023, by the Chanhe Hui Nationality District Court.
Officers from the Luoyang City Police Department claimed that in February 2022, they discovered that Mr. Li and others set up a group using overseas chat software Potato in February 2022, and posted Falun Gong videos and Epoch Times articles. They said that Mr. Li was the chat group’s administrator.
On April 14, 2022, the police department filed a case against Mr. Liu.
It was reported that the parties involved in the case are: Mr. Cai Binyang (64 years old, from Shangyou County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province), Mr. Wu Lian’an (born in 1972, from Xiamen City, Fujian Province), Ms. Li Huimin (from Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, who has been released on bail), and Mr. Li Shihai (from Pingdu City, Shandong Province).
4. [Baoding City, Hebei Province] Ms. Liu Yumin Faces Trial
Ms. Liu Yumin, a teacher with the rank of excellence in Laishui County, was scheduled to be tried by the Zhuozhou City Court at 9 a.m. on January 11, 2023.
5. [Zhengzhou City, Henan Province] Ms. Guo Fengrong Released on Bail
Ms. Guo Fengrong, was intercepted by officers from the Zhengzhou City Domestic Security Division in Lankao County, Henan Province on January 5, 2023, and taken back to Zhengzhou City. The police issued a notice of “released on bail,” and restricted Ms. Guo from going out.
6. [Yinan County, Shandong Province] Mr. Zu Peiyong and His Wife Ms. Liu Jianhua Harassed
Mr. Zu Peiyong, from Suijiadian Village, Yiwen Town, was sentenced to three years in prison and returned home in 2022. After he returned home, Mr. Zu and his wife Ms. Liu Jianhua have been continuously harassed by officers from the Yiwen Town Police Station and staff members from the Yiwen Town Comprehensive Management Office, who made phone calls or frequently forced their way into the couple’s home.
In late December 2022, the police station officers harassed Mr. Zu and Ms. Liu with the excuse that they were maintaining stability prior to New Year’s Day.
7. [Laixi City, Shandong Province] Ms. Hu Cuixiang Harassed and Illegally Detained
Ms. Hu Cuixiang from Nanlan Town was arrested by six or seven officers from the Hetoudian Police Station when she was shopping at the Nanlan Market around 11 a.m. on December 21, 2022, using paper bills with Falun Gong information printed on them. The officers ransacked her home and confiscated her Falun Gong books.
On January 4, 2023, the officers returned to her home, saying that they would detain her after the pandemic.
Many people from the Hetoudian Town Police Station in Laixi City went to the home of Hu Cuixiang in Xiaodiandong Village, Hetoudian Town on the morning of March 6, 2023. They learned that she had gone to the market, so they went there again and found Hu Cuixiang, who was frying deep-fried dough sticks with her husband. She was forcibly taken away, and is now being illegally detained in the Laixi City Detention Center for 15 days.
8. [Anlu City, Hubei Province] Ms. Wei Zhen Arrested
Ms. Wei Zhen was reported to the police while she was clarifying the truth about Falun Gong in the urban area of Anlu City on the morning of December 6, 2022. She was arrested by officers from the Fucheng Police Station. She was released that day.
